stevebrum
I don't think Peterborough have much chance of making the play offs. They have 6 matches on Newcastle and only 3 points behind them in 7th place. They have one foot in the play offs.
heathen chemistry
squads wont work while the majority of the top stars dont want to and dont need to be committed to the elite league in fact i think it would make the elite league look even more of a laughing stock if teams are booking guests for squad members who dont want to turn up (how will pearson and tatum explain that one to the neutrals) we need a committed 1-7 , minimum number of brits per team ,

The squad system allows you to use whatever riders you need to with no points restriction (as the Pole/Swedes allow)but those riders who you have as assets taking priority................. heathen chemistry
why should the elite league employ disinterested foreigners, the ones who will ride here a few weeks when it suits them while there schedule is quiet but as soon as some meeting appear they tend to not give a toss about the elite league , the british league needs to take a step back , clubs dont need the top foreigners , put the money saved to good use (ie the draft riders)

The draft system has some merits but in many ways is a nonsense. No one has explained how their 2014 averages will be assessed next year and the differential in ability between many vastly distorts the scoreline in numerous meetings. Take Belle Vue last Monday. Their two fast track riders failed to score a point against the opposition while Coventry's duo racked up paid 21.
TheReturn
The draft will then die and we will see a flood of 3 point foreigners just doing the same as they always did. The draft system is a good start to resolving the lack of British riders coming through, so I don't blame the BSPA for trying something new. But for me it is not so much that Elite League clubs have overseas riders, it is the fact that fans do not know who will be riding for their team from one week to the next. We need to go back to creating 'teams' where the rider (regardless of nationality) feels part of the club and gets to know the fans not just in one season, but over two or more years. We need to create a situation where a rider can show club loyalty and the fans win then, as much as the rider. One problem is the averages, because of stupid average rules riders are chopped and changed every year.
SCB
TRY reading it again ... on second thoughts don't bother. What is your point?
Wolfsbane
The draft has it's faults but was going along ok'ish'. The general feeling appears to be 2 was too many and 1 would work better. Unfortunately at the behest of one team, Phil Morris drove a coach & horses through it. To be honest I don't know why they bothered
bigcatdiary
They have 6 matches on Newcastle and only 3 points behind them in 7th place. They have one foot in the play offs. League Tables don't always provide accurate information of how teams are doing.

PHILIPRISING
What is your point? I'LL try again ... four weeks ago the Poole versus Wolverhampton meeting was a very attractive fixture featuring the World Champion (Woffinden) and, by common consensus, one of the most exciting and entertaining riders in the sport (Ward) and two of the brightest kids on the block (the Pawlicki brothers). Now, through a variety of unfortunate circumstances, all four will be missing, The only answers available under the current regulations are guests and/or r/r which totally devalues the product. Until we find alternative ways of filling the gaps only the most ardent fans will put their hands in their pockets.

What you said was, "THIS fixture now perfectly illustrates the problems afflicting the Elite League these days." So which problems is it that afflicting the EL these days? We can all see that due to the bad luck of two riders getting injured, one moron getting banned for being drunk and a rider quitting hasn't helped but I fail to see how 3 of these riders not being here is anything the Elite League could have done as is a "problem". Surely Eveery league has the same problem of Ward being a pisshead and Pawlicki and Woffy being injured. Because right now Ward, Woffy and Pawlicki are not riding in any league so this is not an Elite League specific problem is it?

marko
It has to be said Poole are looking somewhat vulnerable right now missing Ward and Pawlicki, Wolves have nothing but pride to race for but look up for this.
