salty
To be fair, on many other threads where we have been bemoaning the lack of British progress, people have said we should embrace these junior European events as a means of giving our lads much needed international experience. Given that our teams are wrecked with absences anyway, we might as well enter our own lads, rather than bury our heads in the sand and pretend they don't exist. Becoming hard to see much of a future for weekend Speedway in Britain.
Shadders
Wolbert is riding in the German Championship and Palovaara and Lykke are riding in the World under 21's . For some bizarre reason the under 21's are not viewed by the BSPA as an official meeting , hence we have a couple of wobblers at 1 and 6 . We have Kennett & 5 wobblers Edited August 31, 2014 by Shadders

Becoming hard to see much of a future for weekend Speedway in Britain. Britain's governing body have no interest in helping our country's young riders . How many times have we heard in the last few years where Britain's under 21 champion cannot afford to compete in the World qualifiers . Surely the BSPA should at least pay these young rider's travelling expenses . But should one of them blossom on his own and make the grade to World level , the BSPA are happy to bask in the glory .
scotchopper
The problem is British speedway not the rest of the world and foreign riders. Gone are the days when Britain ruled the world and could pay riders so that they would race here first. Need to get one race day for each league and completely restructure around that. These championships no matter how diddy you think they are need to race on one day.

But regardless of that , what's on offer at Glasgow today is an affront to the Premier League and an insult to the paying public

Fromafar
People would go if it was a tenner just to get a fix of speedway never know the wobblers might put on a showThat is a valid point, you never know if you are going to see good racing or not,but the main point is this is meant to be a Premier League meeting with 14 PL riders ,not 5 guests 2r/r.
Shadders
It'd have to be something very important for me to miss a home meeting, no matter who's in the side. You don't know what you have until it's gone
Lioness
Im in the same boat Shadders but it doesnt mean I cant have the opinion that the way the information was kept from the fans until it 'leaked' out from Edinburgh is unacceptable - as was a post made elsewhere by someone connected to the club attacking the fans for having that opinion (in my opinion)

Apart from a handful of good days it's been mostly terrible. Last weeks home win against the Bandits was probably the highlight, bragging rights secured in our house for a while. I'm lucky to live less than 5 minutes from the track, so I can make a last minute decision to go.

These championships no matter how diddy you think they are need to race on one day. I cannot see how how a one race day per league would be feasible in the UK, given that with a few exceptions, the stadia are not owned by the Speedway Promotion,. the facilities are shared with other sports, and local planning restrictions restrict use to certain weekdays. The consequence of imposing a single race day would probably mean quite a few tracks would immediately cease as they would be unable to run on the specified day of the week. Home meetings would be fortnightly and this would reduce the potential income of the promoters, riders, and stadium landlords. Taking Ashfield as an example, if the specified raceday was not a Sunday or Saturday (though there might be Saturday date clashes with the resident football club), then the club would require to install floodlighting for weekday evening meetings. I agree the present situation is unsatisfactory, but the single race day per league proposal would probably put a lot of clubs existence in jeopardy.
Shadders
One single raceday is a non starter for all the reasons mentioned in the above post

Feel sorry for Glasgow, I would say the promotion are to blame as they must have an idea of the riders commitments? But the above is utterly bizzare to me! How can a world under-21 event not be recognised?!

I think what these missing riders scenario proves that we need a slightly shortened season with the odd blank race day to cope.Perhaps just League,KO Cup and maybe 4's qualifiers is the way to go. Fromafar
Start with the league and have the league cup at the end of the season AFTER the play offs.Would agree with starting with league fixtures but we seem to run in fixture congestion every year with this league cup if we have any rain-offs,missing riders scenario. I am waiting on the begging bowl appearing anytime soon and holding the if we don't get the support we may not run next season chestnut it is all very tiresome now simple answer to that is if your business is not self-sufficient then you need to ask what is the point. It was not that long ago that the Fan's were getting slagged off on Facebook by one off the Directors can't remember who it was but there customer relation skills definitely need worked on.
