Gorzow Gp-30th August 2014

Recommended Posts

Amazing atmosphere in stadium especially for the Goezow riders with Zmarzlik the most popular.

Some excellent racing but lots of near crashes caused by rearing before unfortunately NKI & Greg crash. Get well soon to both

Think should judge Zmarzlik performances away from Goezow before suggest he shou get a wildcard but was excellent last night

He does well away from Gorzow so is not a one trick pony.

He rides in Sweden and wins races. He rode well here.

What else do you need?

If Chris Harris is qualified to ride in SGP then Squeaky certainly is :)

Nigel and Kelvin are good commentators...Lay Off!

Kelvin is very good. Offers good technical input, and spotted Gregs hand going into the wheel like a week before Pearson did. Pearson on the other hand is an embarrassment, called a race wrong last night, fawns over Hancock, shouts like an imbecile during commentary, overuses the same terms time and time again (current favourites are 'he's gone square', and 'let the crowd bring him home - then talks over them', he suggests every rider pull-up is a dropped chain, mentions Cradley/Dudley most meetings and is generally one of the poorest sports commentators there is. About time people stopped sucking up to him, and actually realised he is just not that good.

Well thats your opinion and you're entitled to it. I dont agree one little bit, Nigel does a great job commentating and promoting Speedway..as for calling a race wrong, all commentators in all sports make mistakes...IMHO.

Oh, and by the way...I suck up to no one. :drink:

Havvy tweets:

@liamje28: @GaryHavelock why did he resign havvy?” He wanted to ride in sweden on Monday instead of Belle Vue. No commitment at all1f41d.png1f41d.png

It's no good having a rider doing ok in the Grand Prix series, whilst giving his British team 6 and a half points a meeting. Waste of space.

JUST heard from the Hancock camp that Greg will ride in Vojens. Believe he broke one finger and dislocated another and his hand was a bit of a mess. Not only the World Championship at stake ... also his remarkable record of 177 consecutive GPs, never having missed one. That must rank as one of speedway's greatest achievements.

Drove back to Berlin this morning in the company of Chris Louis and kelvin Tatum. Both agreed that Greg's injuries could have been much worse. In trying to lean his bike over to scrub off speed and lay it down he actually came off worse than he might have done had it just hit the fence.

Also both these seasoned campaigners believe that most of the crashes we are now seeing - including the Hancock/Iversen one last night, Woffinden's at Eastbourne, Morris at Coventry - are directly related to the on-going problems caused by the current silencers.

And both also agreed with an earlier post here that the new regulations regarding mudguards are a nonsense and on Saturday actually did Hancock more harm than good.

Also just heard that Niels had a MRI scan in Poland this morning and his knee ligament damage is quite severe. Might not see him in action again this season. But you just never know with these speedway boys....

He is very good on the World stage, league speedway he is average. I do hope he gets a pick next year.

GIVE the kid a break ... early season injury which he is only just getting over and his father suffering from a serious illness. Good to see him back with Michael on Saturday. Think he will kick on from here.

Incidentally, another reason why many riders (of all nationalities) are not currently enamoured with EL racing in the UK is the standard of tracks they have to ride. Coventry's at home to Swindon recently is a case in point.

Mmmm, it's impressive but surely the achievement that matters is world titles, and title to 177 GP ratio he only won two world titles in the GP era, so if you look at it from that angle it is less impressive.

Don't get me wrong, I doubt anyone will last longer in the GPs, but we have people who have won more GP series which suggests their achievement is better?

Open the debate :)

I think 177 gp's on the trot is a fantastic achievement considering what can happen to a rider in a gp season. I only been "back to speedway" for 2 years (2013 and 2014) and seen more accidents with injuries to top riders taking them out of a gp then I ever saw back in the 60's/70's.

And many a rider would love to be a two time world champion with a possibility of a third at the age of 44 (or is it 45).

Not detracting from any rider in the gp era who has been a multi world champ more then twice - thats fantastic as well..

177 GP's in a row - could be called Mr Perpetual Motion and I think that was a title Ove Fundin had for being in the world championship top three for 10 years running.

Phil maybe you could inform your contacts at the FIM that the increase in riders being injured is related to the new silencers,as they seem oblivious and are reluctant to propose change. The new silencers have made the sport more dangerous and have sucked the atmosphere from our sport (GP in Poland when the Poles are successful excepted) lets go back to the old ones !

Agreed totally. His main ability behind the microphone when things get a bit exciting is to make perfect monkey noises rather than actually COMMENTATE, which is what he is supposed to be doing and is travelling the world and making a good living out of doing. Continually spoils the racing be it Elite League or Grand Prix with his amateurish and pathetic "noises".

Notice also that "TheReturns" post has now "disappeared"....I hope it hasn't been deleted by the "powers that be" under instructions from motor mouth himself or his agent!!? Truth hurts sometimes eh?

perhaps you should check facts before throwing accusations. A quick and easy way to do it is just to hit the arrow beside his name in the post of his that you quoted. It takes you straight back to his post which you will see is alive and kicking and exactly where he left it :P

nothing hurting here - how about your end? ;)

I think I'm right in saying Jason Crump made the podium for 10 seasons in a row. Mind you, there probably only 4 or 5 riders ever who would not swap their career for Gregs. It just makes you wonder why Greg went off the boil for a few years when he should have been at his peak form about '98 to '03ish. He's also only ever actually managed 2 consecutive season of finishing on the podium.

Various discussion on wild cards above: surely likely to be ward, puk, hampel and thh? Assuming they fail to qualify and ward not banned and assumes emil remaining unavailable.

Would love to see pawlicki or zmarzlick in it though, so hopefully hampel and puk make top eight and thj gets in via challenge.

Emil pawlicki ward and mjj would make a handy line up of wildcards, though cant see it happening.
