Ommer Mon
It's double header time at Monmore Wood tonight. I have to say the rain has been persistent all day Monday around here and with our Landlords rained off last night we will need to have our fingers and everything else crossed for the meeting tonight. Start time is 7:15 if it goes ahead.
Ommer Mon
It's just turned one o'clock and according to the Cradley website the meeting will be on provided that we don't get much more rain and the forcast is dry. Fingers crossed Luke Harris is in for Danny Phillips. Have to say on balance I'm expecting more of a battle against the Bog Moggies than the Young Stars. 6 points for the Heathens though! blueherb777
How many Guests did Kings Lynn have ? Farce. Also Ben Morley guests for Kings Lynn who are trying to get above HIS OWN Club in the play-offs? Morley gets injured riding for his OWN Clubs rivals ? Only in Speedway. What a joke sport it is. Bagpuss
Rose and Owen injured, Bailey enrolling at his new college. No idea on Stokes or Mallett (work?) There are threads in the Speedway Discussions section about the future of the EL & PL, there needs to be one on the NL too IMO. Needs some serious thought into how next year will be structured.
Daniel Smith
I'm sorry but surely the NL isn't taken seriously? It's a training programme. If Cradley, Mildenhall etc want serious stuff move up the leagues. The NL isn't here to win titles, it's here to develop youth end of. The rider's in this league have to put education / work as main priority.

The rider's in this league have to put education / work as main priority. Then, to perhaps misquote an old phrase, why are we bothering to keep score? Without wishing to go over very well worn ground, while there is a league in place and competitive racing there will always be teams striving to win it and rightly so. The gap between the two approaches has grown too large this season and needs to be addressed without doubt. I very much agree though that riders priorities in this league may be elsewhere at times, and I think there is a greater acceptance of team changes in the NL for this reason. I think it is pretty much a universal desire from Cradley fans to move up next season but Mildenhall have tried and struggled in the PL pretty recently and if it weren't for the NL Cradley probably wouldn't be riding at all. With regard to last night it was a shame that Kings Lynn were decimated, especially after Morley was injured in the first race which effectively ended it as a contest. Was very impressed with Connor Coles for Mildenhall who apart from a struggle in his last ride looked very quick.

Strangely I find myself agreeing with some of this. Thankfully Ben is OK, but I do struggle with our riders guesting for our rivals - something i'll have to get my head around at some point i know. I understand that riders have got to earn cash/put themselves in the shop window. What tips me over the edge is when they get injured! Didn't Lambert break his hand guesting for Stoke?! Was going to take in this match as in the local paper it previewed it as quote "a blockbuster night of action" "a mouthwatering double header" and "a breathtaking night of action" Unfortunately when the club chairman or his apprentice in spin Rich jones are allowed to write in the press the hype is nowhere near the reality.
Ommer Mon
Whilst its nice to have finished top of the League yet again, the racing was not brilliant last night. The weather had an affect on the track (all credit to the track staff for getting the meetings on though)and it was obvious from the first bend of Heat 1, when all four riders came down that we would be in for a long night. KL battled away but there was little close racing. The track did improve significantly for the second meeting and the Bog Moggies were far more competitive especially Connor Coles who looked a great prospect. bring on the Play Offs! Heathen1984
Cradley are doing a fine job as well in Bringing youngsters in and developing them so please don't go on like we ain't doing our bit as well. Screamer look at your team, not exactly filled with up and coming youngsters are you. We do our bit just like other clubs.

That is the whole problem with this country and that is why it never gets anywhere on the world stage. Yes Woffenden is British but with Aussie grit and will to win. Don't you think Coles went home giving a little whistle having beaten Clegg on his own manor. Get real. I for one think Cradley will be a massive loss to NL
greyhoundp
Yep, very impressed with young Connor Coles, but there again i was 2 years ago when he came here for i think Rye House, last season his 1st full season in the NL he struggled a little, but that was probably down to being thrown in at the deep end as Kings No2, so in his first race he was up against his own No1, the opposition no1 so it was little wonder he struggled at times, he appears to have come on this season, let me give you a comparison, 2 years ago he came here as a guest i think for RH, and rode well and tidily but in all honestly was out of his depth against the Cradley Big guns Roynon, Morris, Perry, last night he soundly beat the self same Tom Perry on his own patch, well done Connor. The rider's in this league have to put education / work as main priority. This post infuriates me so much... becuase YOUR Wrong... The league is there to develop riders to race, to be good enough to ride with other riders when they go out in each heat. If there was no National League and actual competition then why when they get to the gate dont they choose when they go and have four practice laps without the risk of being knocked off by another rider! The league is here for a reason but the difference between teams like CRADLEY and SCUNTHORPE is what causes the debate and the problems. The league needs to needs to bridge the gap! There are so many riders in this league who may be too good...we have two of them in Worral and Starke but nothing can be taken away from how cradley have developed riders through the last 5 years. Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves were our reserves last year, Cleggy is now at number 3 and is looking like a potential to be a number 1. Nathan Greaves is alot better rider than he was last year, because for one he can stay on his bike but thats down the team repaying the faith in him for a second year. Matt Williamson gets regular guest bookings in the PL. Lewis Blackbird career was going nowhere and you give him a regular set place in a team and look whats happened to him this year in the NL. if he wasnt riding for us last year he wouldnt have been given a chance. Were not taking full credit for all the sucsess of developing riders, alot of that goes down to the clubs who have training tracks and actuall gets kids on bikes. This modern era of the Heathens will always be part of our history and if we ever get a track of our own I hope one of the first things we do as a club is have it open for training and maybe have a NL team once again!
Blackbird
The rider's in this league have to put education as main priority. And let's hope if they do, they learn how to use the apostrophe rather better than you have!
Ommer Mon
How will the play offs be any different ? Not different at all. Just more competitive opposition against teams of a similar strength and ambition to ourselves. It will make for some entertaining racing even though I'm sure we stand a good chance chance of coming out with the silverware again.
