oldace
Would they really? If you have a League Competition - it is just that - a League Competition. The Team at the TOP is the Winner - THAT is an incontrovertible FACT. You can have Play Off Competitions if you wish but they CANNOT (should not) be for the League Championship. They should be run as a separate Competition. Do you see a Play Off System in the Premier League Football Competition - of course you don't - the Team that finishes TOP are the League Champions - that is the way a LEAGUE is run in the REAL World. For those who support the Play Offs - you are supporting a GIMMICK nothing else, just a pure gimmick. You better tell UEFA then that the Champions League is just a gimmick. Or tell the football league that the play offs are just a farce They obviously didn't realise, no wonder no one goes to watch these events Oh hang on a minute Edited August 26, 2014 by Oldace

jenga
whats the difference between speedway and football. one has bikesm(the wheeled type) and the other has balls, with a bladder. no difference at all then, eh.

Halifaxtiger
This is what the ostrich brigade just don't get. The play-offs bring in the crowds. The Young Shield brought in one man and his dog. And yet some people want to go back to the latter. All the best Rob A financially essential gimmick , plus the entertainment and suspense it gives the fans . It's the high point of the season in many , many sports . Spot on. I prefer the team that finishes top wins. But our sport simply isn't in a position to turn down the crowds that the play offs generate.

cowboy cookie returns?
Well one thing is for sure the sport I think will only get this winter to sort its self out or its gonna be a death & not a slow as some people think!
spin king
I think the Play Offs are here to stay, and after been initially wary of them I find that I really do like them and I am quite a fan of them, on a personal note I think that they keep the season alive for the full season. Hopes for 2015 Purely selfishly I would like to see Sheffield have a good season, the new Promotion have worked so hard and it would be nice to see that hard work rewarded. Also would be nice to see some of the other teams that be around the bottom of the league with us over the last couple of seasons do well the likes of Glasgow, Rye House and Plymouth, and just for once lets see Edinburgh struggle. Increase in numbers of Premier League teams, 16 would be the ideal number. Hopefully the Elite League will see sense and run all Elite League matches on Mondays and Mondays to become exclusively Elite League night. That would go a long way to solving the doubling up problems. People smile more at speedway meetings, and actually enjoy themselves. What I don't want to see for 2015 I hate the idea of Elite amalgamating with the Premier League. I am not to fussed about rationalization for any of the league's. Not too much to ask for. Cj69
Some should be quite practical others not so much, but heres my input. - One challenge meeting at the start for all teams (scottish cup, tyne/tweet etc) - Straight into league with KOC fixtures shortly after - Bring back 4s groups - Play-Offs, although not a fan, should be top 3. 2nd and 3rd in Semi then meet 1st in Final (more of a reward for top of league) - No TR but bring back Rider Substitution (to be used once only and no double points) - Teams must have a GB reserve (we can but hope) who cannot be dropped for a foreigner. - Limited to 2 double up riders per team - 30 sec time limit for rider to get back to tapes after an unsatisfactory start (except if rider has fallen) - Maximum admission £15 at all clubs. (Admit extremely difficult to implement). Ideally £10 but lets not get ahead of ourselves. - Team mascots. Not long ago most clubs had a young rider as a mascot, dont see it much now. - Points limit decided by last seasons winning team combined averages. Theres my two pennies worth. Jonny the spud
4 heats 2nd half / junior race 4 heats 2nd half / junior race etc....... no need to hang around after a meeting, more heats, ( more for your money) FT system to be extended to the PL, U21 riders only

Theres my two pennies worth. wouldnt argue with much of this but - how about 2 GB fast track reserves (age restricted) - theres still plenty NL riders available no doubling down just doubling up and EL to have a pool of such riders from PL to call on so that no PL team is left short. Where the rider is EL owned the EL club either agree to this or the rider races EL only Definitely needs drop in admission fees - difficult i know but Speedway matches are way way down on most family budget priorities. Chewbacca
Just hope all of this years team survive and one or two can be added (Eastbourne coming down, Cradley coming up?) to round out the fixture list instead of choosing two other team to ride against. Bring back the Fours qualifiers.

Halifaxtiger
So you are admitting it has SOLD OUT!!! I think you might just be able to put it that way so yes, I am. Personally, though, I see it is a very astute decision that will create additional income that the sport desperately (more than desperately) needs and I think that while the majority would still prefer the team at the top as champions the overwhelming majority now accept that the reasons for using the play off system are fully justifiable and do not object to them. I have said this before but I will say it again : the best match I have ever been to was the NL play off final, second leg in 2011 at West Row, Mildenhall. The principal reason why it was so good was because it was a play off.
Fromafar
Not a fan of the Plays-offs but it is not the biggest problem affecting the sport.IMO it is bike technology which has outgrown the stadiums in UK.(abroad is a different matter tracks are more speed friendly ).we need to slow the sport down to provide better entertainment IMO .

I have been banging on about this for ages. Tracks that are basically the same as they were in 1928 (apart from Air Fences) and Bikes that are rocket ships in comparison to the original type of Bike that raced on them. You are 100% correct - the speed of the Bikes does need to be slowed. This would not, in my opinion, spoil the entertainment value - but it would be safer and less expensive. I would imagine a few Engine Tuners would throw their hands in the air at what I am going to say next. Engines should be manufactured so that Riders themselves could work on them - this again would reduce costs. None of this will happen though - too many vested interests involved.
