Coventry Vs Kings Lynn now Sept 4th - Empty Stadium ?

Recommended Posts

Bees will probably lose by around 2-3 points. Let's not forget Sarjeant's form has improved drastically over the past couple of weeks. So hopefully if that continues tonight it might make the Garrity loss not so severe. Think Sarj is good for at least 5 tonight. Can see us ending up with someone like Ryan Terry-Daley tonight if no replacement can be found (although can they do that or does it have to be someone on the list?). I sure hope it doesn't end up being NO RIDER at 6.

This is a total shambles though, I didn't think the footie would've made any difference whatsoever. A lot of fans don't support the football, myself included as I think it's boring.

Lynn to win by 2. I'd imagine Schlein will score well. Although Fricke is a decent little rider it seems, so if him and Robbo can chip in and Andersen and Harris can ride as they can at Brandon we could just make it.

Tonight's farce sums up the sorry state of speedway in this country, the Elite league in particular and especially at Coventry.

A late fixture change (for once not involving the weather) weakened and much changed teams and a very unusual night to boot #shambles

I think tonights crowd will be the lowest of the season. I'm sure some would have preferred the £10 offer at the football, especially with the team returning to their rented home but it wouldn't have been hundreds. At 1:30 we still don't know the Bees team and Thursday nights are well proven at Coventry to be poorly supported.

If Mick is serious about the play-offs why even contemplate moving the fixture when the team will be weaker for doing so.

If I wasn't so heavily involved with the NSSC I would be one of many not bothering with this fixture.

Something drastic needs to happen to Elite League speedway this winter. This is just not good enough.

And another thing! Lets see how long it takes to complete tonight's meeting then multiply it by 2 add in a bit of a break in the middle and see if the Eastbourne double header will be completed by the new self imposed curfew of 10:15.

Where did the 10:15 curfew come from ?? I've known meetings finish later than that on many occasions over the years !

The last Storm double header was curtailed at 10:15 because of the "imaginary" curfew, coincidentally as soon as heat 10 was reached. (I wonder what time the curfew would have been if they were on heat 7 at 10:15?!). The previous Storm double header had a curfew at 10:45.

Never heard of a curfew in all my years of going to Brandon. Another nail in the coffin. Another kick in the teeth for the fans.

See the NL section for outraged fans reaction to the Storm double header curfew.

Bizarre isn't it. I've said it before, that I lived near the stadium for over ten years and Speedway and especially Stocks have gone on much much later than 10.15, sometimes past 11.30. This curfew is definitely a new thing!!

Massive own goal by the Bees management in moving this fixture, yes we would have lost a few fans to the footy but guess what... We will have a whole lot more not coming along now, and we've thrown away the chance of 3 league points. Let's hope those 3 points don't cost us a play off place or it will be an even bigger financial disaster for the club.

The promotion need to realise that people won't turn out to watch a team full of guests & R/R, especially when it never had to be this way and especially when we are now likely to get stuffed in a meeting we could well have won.

As I've said before I respect what Mick Horton does for the club and think he does a good job, but he's got this one very wrong.

Just Passing on a message to Messers Watson & Horton from The JaguarLandRover lads who wont be able to make it tonight because of the shifts who asked me to post a question last week .......... YOU NEVER EVEN EXPLAINED WHY YOU HAVE CHANGED IT !! Thank you both ..

There the issue, you assume Garritys replacement will score 6/7. He might only score 2 or 3. Take away the 10-12 for Jason and add in 2-3 for the replacement and even if you assume we were going to win 50-40ish we're suddently losing 50-40ish.

If you were going to win 50 v 40 with Garrity scoring 10 from 4 rides and his replacement gets 2 from 4 rides you'll still possibly end up winning 46 v 44 as you need to factor in the extra four points Garrity's team mate will should score :)

The most sensible thing to do is to have one meeting & give double points out !!!

Go on then ;) I think we've both just used extreme though.

They did in the original statement although I still don't understand why they changed it to this date as overall the two crowd for the two days would've been similar. Friday because of the footy and today for a weakened line up.
