Coventry Vs Kings Lynn now Sept 4th - Empty Stadium ?

Recommended Posts

Bet you didnt say that in 2010 when coventry beat poole and poole had been the best all season

Oh dear, you must have selective memory. Poole were by far the outstanding team through-out the season - with no question.

Coventry are threatening to do the same to whoever else makes it to the PO`s/Final.

As a fan of the Play offs i applaud the team that peaks at the right time because that's what it is all about.

I feel sorry more for the Stars because it would be nice to have someone new winning the big prize.

At least they got a guest for NKI though.

Garrity is one of the best if not the best fast track riders in the draft on current form so can not be replaced around Brandon yet we had to ride with no rider to replace him.

Goes to show the believe and spirit of this team.

Blackbird is quite comfortably the best FTR this year. With Kerr a close 2nd.

Newman and Garrity right now are the form FTR.

Its interesting to read the before and after comments both here and on the Swindon/Wolves thread. Before, all abuse, aggression and criticism. After, no complaints at all and virtually everyone saying how much they enjoyed the meetings.

To me, it just shows only too plainly that for all the shambles off track, the spite, backstabbing and attempts at cheating when things get out on the track just how good speedway can be and that what matters most is four nutters on bikes without brakes.

Some of the keyboard commandoes on here who never go and do nothing but slag the sport off should think about that once in a while.

So all of proceeding crap that caused it should all be forgotten because they were good meetings? Of course I'm delighted that the Bees won, surprised and delighted at the ease of it. I'm over the moon that Bomber is back to his best, I can't wait to see him ride now. Oh, hang on that would have been tonight then.

As for the Luke Priest issue, if permission had been given earlier in the day, why wasn't it announced on the website? When did Phil Morris sanction the inclusion, from the other side of the pits? :D

How many times do we see a certain team manipulate/break/reinvent rules? It matters not that he wasn't on the draft list, that he's only an NL rider that would have only scored a point or two. Rules need to be applied consistently are the cries we hear all the time do we not. Of course it was petty, but, you can't have it each and every way because it suits!

If it had been sanctioned, why did Lynn not accept it?

It turns out it didn't matter in the end and in fact fired up the fans and the team to provide that brilliant performance. So thanks should be in order if anything :D

I'm loving that I'm reading comments about the good feel factor being back at Brandon, I can't wait to get up there now. Leave is all booked for the play offs, lets hope those dates don't clash with the football :P

Anyway today is another day, we move on to Swindon, that's going to be an interesting one.

Up the Bees :t:

Just out of interest where can you find the list of "fast track riders"

Great performance from the Bees - Bomber in particular, carrying on from his guest appearance the night before (one of the best sights in speedway watching Bomber on the charge!)

Coventry could finish top on this showing and if they do I wonder who they would choose in the semis? even though its still not clear-cut who the final 4 will be?!

I missed this earlier. From a purely selfish point of view I'd like it to be a Bees V Pirates final. Still early days yet though, look at KL, a lot can happen to any team. It's just that it's my nearest EL track now and I feel for whatever reason, we have unfinished business. But then, It think I'll always feel like that about Poole :P

To be fair I don't know what else Horton can do in that situation. If it happens again to another club they would do exactly what Horton did and gain permission, having said that I completely understand why KL protested. I'm sure next time he will do what KL did and add a rider to the draft, that was naive from the club. I'm disappointed that no draft rider wanted the booking

I made comment last night about the 6 man rider team. I would like to be critical of Havvy's comments before the meeting started. King's Lynn were quite correct to complain if the rider was legally able to ride. I heard Mick Horton talking during match complaining about KL appeal. Havvy's suggested that they should have allowed Luke to ride and then if the appeal was carried on they could have deducted the points scored by the rider, suggesting that he wouldn't have scored more than three. Sorry this is a ridiculous statement, there is history in Speedway of (riding a rider who didn't meet the legal position) then the offending team could have any League points deducted. Sorry the fault lies entirely with Coventry Management and it's quite clear when you read the NL riders rules. As stated a fantastic night by all the riders in particular Robbo and Max Fricke

Yeah if someone could come in with millions and give all promotions who don't own their track enough dosh to build a new stadium apiece for speedway only akin to Poland, Sweden and Denmark. If this person would then bankrole all the clubs every season like in Poland, Sweden and Denmark and get some adverts going on the BBC, ITV and sky we'd be getting somewhere!

You're missing the point completely .... The sugar Daddy ( Sky TV) has come, spent , wasted and gone..

Unless the sport, and each club, is run as a viable enterprise then there is no point in continuing..

I see we are left with 2 options. 1, We join our European neighbours and comply with one day a week racing, or 2, We say 'Up yours' and go our own way with our own rules....

We can't have our cake and eat it......... It's one way or the other......

Lynn have had their chips for the season, sadly. What started off so brightly has ended up a real damp squib. No one to blame its just happened. Rory racing in what seems like every Elite league meeting, NKI taking on too much of a workload, Injuries to Rose and Kerr, Porsing missing through other committments and injuries. I just think the whole Lynn thing just ran out of steam. It happens. The one I feel sorry for is Buster. I think he gave it his all this season, in the hope of finally breaking the Kings Lynn top League Duck, It wasnt to be. We have enjoyed a decent season at Saddlebow, but have to say Its not been a vintage one in terms of racing there.

Bring On 2015, in what ever shape or form it may take.
