greyhoundp
Personally im surprised the meeting even went ahead! The track was awful. Arrived at 5pm to see a soft mushy inside line and hard fine outer. All the riders walked, kicked and commented on it and yet nothing was done except shrugging of shoulders by the promotion until the referee ordered some work to take place which started at just before 7pm. After 40 minutes of pointless grading the meeting went ahead on with all riders just using the outside line which produced poor racing and far too many falls as all riders were forced into a small area. I hope all those that took a tumble are ok and Benji recovers asap although im surprised nobody was seriously injured. As a sub note I also really feel for the MDL boys who had their part cancelled due to time constraints after the track work. All in all I think the Stoke promotion should hang their heads in shame and apologise for this farce. I for one will never make the trip to the potteries again! This about sums up the promotion, Couldnt care, dont care. The biggest mystery in all of this is Malcolm Vasey, he has deservedly over the years has earned himself respect in the NL, however since he became involved with Stoke (last i heard he was also a director) slowly but surely he is losing this respect, he comes on the BSF from time to time defending the indefensible. I have been one of the persons who respected Malcolm for the work he has done in the past. For goodness sake Malcolm stand up and be counted or walk away, you have never been slow before in saying your piece why start now when you are at Stoke. Sings4Speedway
Wooosh says the Kent supporter. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones ?Benji Compton? Its the best I've seen the him ride the track this season Im not saying kent is perfect but Stoke was dangerous & shouldn't have gone ahead in my opinion. Every Kent rider fell (including Benji who has aggravated his wrist injury hence missing from Buxton) and several Stoke riders hit the deck too. When messers Mason & Armstrong are coming to grief you know the track is in a bad way!

I'll be honest, i've already forgotten most of the meeting as it wasn't anything special, but I remember a few passes, a few falls, I did wonder why the inside wasn't used much, but that would explain it. As for the falls, I don't remember most of them, but other than the normal first bend bunching, I thought a few riders just ran out of talent aiming for bend 3. Nothing more, nothing less. When messers Mason & Armstrong are coming to grief you know the track is in a bad way! I got told that after the first four heats the track was fine - and that comes from a rider (a Stoke one admittedly). The track should have been right to start with, though, not after 70 minutes. Modd
I agree this was an absolute shambles of a meeting. Having arrived early to find there was no electricity, the track with stones all over it and riders not wanting to ride and delays galore. These events were eventually sorted out but what really got me raging was to see an 'official' tying up the large gate near the standing area (metal cage panel) from the outside car park. This clearly stated with the proper signeage that it was a FIRE EXIT. The cage had fire exit signs on it. What is this guy thinking of?? We shouted at him and pointed it out but he just walked away. Health and Safety at its best!!!! Sort this one out Stoke for y our own good. Next time we go - if ever there is a next time - it would be nice to see a well prepared track. Not a track being worked on ten minutes before the start. Shambles!!!!!

If that is the gate leading to the pits area it used to be left open but they were told to close it not sure who by I believe but you are right the emergency exit signs should be removed. Talking of H&S.Can you get an ambulance onto the Kent track yet? Edited August 26, 2014 by TMW
