Race For The Play Offs 2014

Recommended Posts

It would cut down on the money clubs make from the play offs, the best crowds are at the play offs, supporters of clubs not involved come to watch and the racing is the most exciting you will see in a league match.

I suppose Birmingham were well rewarded last year for their involvement. ,

Yeah, I bet they were well chuffed...

They were rewarded with a very good crowd for the play off matches which should have made them a substantial sum of money, i don't think you can blame the play offs as the reason they are no longer in business!

They were the stand out team last year, heading the league for most of the season, They were never going to beat the money teams in a end of season head to head, So on that front why bother to enter the competition???

But as League champions, probably there would have been more of a draw to the spectators, than those turning theirs backs, thinking ' What's the point' we done all but win the league. They led from day one.

The system make a mockery of open competition and benefits only the selected few.......

Why were they never going to beat any of the sides in the play offs ? in the betting they were level with Poole come play off time . There is zero logic that were never going to beat any of the sides .in the play offs .

Poole the biggest money club in the land has come top in the league and been beaten in the play more than once .

The play off can be exciting, the semi finals though often tend to be over after the first leg.

However it is penny wise and pound foolish to have a competition that is good at the end but renders the hundred plus meetings before it next to meaningless, crowds don't bother with those in the main and surely not amount of money can make up for that shortfall over those 5/6 months

What meetings are Meaningless ? nearly all teams in some form or another are involved in matches that effect the play offs . If a team had the league won by june in a first past the post system then every match for every team would be meaningless .

About 100 or so Swindon fans went to Leics on sat night because Swindon had a chance of making the play offs other wise most would not have done so if the match was a dead rubber .

It wouldn't surprise me to see Eastbourne get a double victory at Belle Vue on Monday if they are looking at Ricky Wells as a guest as he scores well there

Would that see them sneak a play off place ?

They are going to need a minimum of 8 points prob a couple more depending on swindons result at belle vue tonight !

According to everyone on here Lynn had won the league by June, but look at it now - Lynn are still hanging on by their fingertips but Coventry and Poole have every chance. Why do we need the play-offs to give supporters an exciting finish when thats exactly what we have??

And if neutral supporters get so excited by the play-off final why can't they go to the vital matches taking place involving these teams in the last weeks of the season if they're so interested in the outcome??

That would benefit the incomes of several teams not just the top 4.

So as league champion they might got a decent crowd for one meeting at the end of the season and nowhere near the excitement of the play offs.

The play offs dont appeal to everyone but I think they are terrific whoever is in them, this year, with the teams that will be in it should be up there with the best of them and a mouth watering prospect.

Because every year is not going to be like this year ...most of the time one team is going to run away with it . Not sure about your last comment as I have already explained the Lions are not a top 4 side and they got extra income at the weekend because Swindon were chasing a play off spot .

In a sport that has no Promotion or Relegation and no champion league spots to chase thou not ideal the play off are a must .

They only took over at the top towards the tail end of the season. They were ONE of the stand out teams, not THE only one.

This the same Eastbourne that has struggled to win anywhere in 2 seasons?

If they get close anywhere in there remaining fixtures i will be surprised.

Interesting read up in the Bournemouth echo, Matt states Piotr Pawlicki is banned for 28 days, does this mean he can guest for any team after 28 days as he is still declared in the Wolves team?

If he is sacked i am unsure how he can be still declared after 28 days??

I hope he cannot come back into the EL to choose his meetings again, thank you.

He can guest providing his 28 day ban has expired, He's still included in a 1-7.

However Leszno have their own play-off commitments and It would take a lot of money for Piotr to defy their orders.

I don't see why not. Unless Wolves bring in Proctor to replace him :D
