Race For The Play Offs 2014

Recommended Posts

Bad result for The Robins tonight with Lakeside winning.

Eatbourne are going to finish ahead of Lakeside anyway. Your only worry now is that the good Coventry turn up at Blunsdon on Monday. Weirdly I'm hoping for a 49-41 with a load of dodgy refereeing decisions going your way. Id prefer to see Swindon in the play-offs (it's only an hour for me to get there) than Lakeside or God forbid, Eastbourne.

Coventry will finish top 2 if they beat both Poole and KL by 7+ at home as 3 easy wins on the cards (Eastie twice and Wolves) and surely another 4 pointer away at BV,

48 so far + 15 at home and 4 at BV will be enough. Noone but KL will beat 67. It means Cov can afford losing by 7+ at Swindon and still finish top2. :)

Wolves at home will be after the cut of date and Wolves have been awkward about dates - don't blame them after we cancelled it due to "availability" - will be really annoying for the promotion if Coventry finish 2nd by a point and so miss out on the play-off final second leg at home by that point that they might have got running with guests vs Wolves.

Same with BV, not sure what is happening there. By the end of the year I think Coventry can finish top. Just a shame they're probably going to get 7 points too late.

Bees management think Wolves will now be before cut off date

Big away win for Coventry Bees and a home win for Lakeside Hammers means more pressure for Eastbourne and Swindon again.

One of the closest play offs we have had in a while at the closing stages of the season

Yes makes you wonder why they bother with play-offs doesn't it? Any of 3 teams could finish top of the league atm, and it would be well-deserved whoever it is - instead we've got to look forward to a mad scramble to get all the fixtures in for the daft cut-off date so that 4 teams can have a mini-knockout cup to decide the champions!! Ridiculous :o:angry::blink:

You're expecting Eastbourne to get some away points then?? If Swindon don't lose any at home the Eagles will need an extra 4pts minimum from their remaining 6 away fixtures. Same with Lakeside but they've only got ONE away left.

Get your point but this is all made up of what might happen. As we have seen lately, any rider could get injured or there may not be many guests available either in main team or fast track. Alos with the weather the way its been who know-how many fixtures each team could complete. better to already have points on the board

Of course - it all depends on injuries and guests, and obviously all the fixtures need to be completed - as I said.

This league system however is based on fact - on the form of teams up to this point and what they need to do to maintain their current positions so it DOES take into account 'points on the board'.

For instance Coventry are only now coming to most people's attention as serious play-off candidates/league winners because they are catching up on fixtures but they were ALREADY way ahead of most teams on form alone because they'd accrued plenty of away points earlier in the season. They're catching up on fixtures now and maintaining (and improving) that form so it is 'suddenly' noticeable.

They now have +15 btw to Lynn's +17 so another away win like tonight will see them current league leaders on form. Unless ofc Lynn take points from them there on Thursday!

Be close to impossible to get closer than 2010! Coventry needed all the points on the last night while they needed Swindon to get all the points off Lakeside. Before heat 15 at Brandon we were all on the phone to Swindon fans who were commetating down the phone to us for heat 15 where Swindon got a 5-1 in the last race to get all the points. Coventry then went out in heat 15 and got all the points too allowing them to sneak into the play-offs at the death. And we all know how 2010 ended :D

If Coventry win at Swindon then Eastbourne are in a good position. Which is why I said I want Coventry to lose at Swindon - I think

Lol ok - like you I hope that Swindon don't lose any points too - I'd hate to see Eastie get in the top 4 purely down to another team failing. However if Eastie manage to win a couple away they'll have earnt it.

? Eastie are in good position full stop they have a Weak Wolves away and then double headers v COV and then Belle Vue the result of Swindon v Cov is not going to the matter .

The play offs are sorted .. Kl ,Poole Cov and Eastie .

With a good guest at reserve for Blackbird (such as Newman, against a depleted Wolves side) that could be the meeting where Eastbourne get their 4away points and thats not even including what they could get at Belle Vue in their double header.

Eastbourne are only in a good position IF they manage to get some away points. As they've not got a reputation for getting away points I'd say they only have a slim outside chance and that's even IF Swindon lose v. Coventry. As the Robins also have 2 aways to come at Leicester and BVue, and their away record is somewhat better, I'd say they are favourites! ;)

With the exception of Eastbourne (who still have 20points to play for)

The highest points Lakeside can finish on is 51 (which bees already on) and highest points Swindon can finish on IF pick up full points home & away is 58.

This means Coventry now need just 7points from their remaining 5 meetings (2away & 3home) to secure a place. (Less if the other teams drop points)

If bjarne rides like he has for poole this week and they rarely win away, home meetings are easy as they have a massive track advantage. On balance they have no chance Edited by foreverblue

A lot may depend on the reserve guest Eastbourne get for Blackbird.

Newman isn't riding when they visit Wolves so may guest for them

Garrity is free when they visit Poole so he could replace Pedersen in one of his heats and get practice for the bees on Pooles track at the same time

so unfortunately tonights result rules Lakeside out of the play off races

currently

Bees are in 3rd place with 51points and another 20points available

Swindon in 4th place with 47 points and another 11points available

Eastbourne in 5th place with 44points and another 27points available

Eastbourne and Swindon both have their last home meeting in the next couple of days, whilst Coventry have 4 home meetings remaining
