Race For The Play Offs 2014

Recommended Posts

It's Coventry and Eastbourne's to lose now.

Lakeside seem to be on the way down after some early season form and Swindon are simply too inconsistent to maintain a challenge.

? If Swindon and Eastie only win all there home matches then It's Swindon who will finish in the top 4 ...Eastie are going to have to win away something they have not done for very long time .

Very true but Swindon have also got to win their home matches and hope for no rain offs.

Its so tight I honestly couldn't pick the 2 teams. Great to see though as this is what the league should be

Depending on rain, Coventry and Swindon will finish in the top 4. The race for 1st looks far more interesting.

Poole are my favourites, 2 wins at Lakeside could see them nick it but technically, Coventry could still do it. I just don't see it happening though as we're not going to get Wolves and Leicester* at home in or Leicester* away. Annoyingly that's 10 points lost that we'll probably win after the cut off date.

Wonder if Leicester* could rearrange the meeting before the cut off.

*I have assumed Monday is going to be a washout. Which could also be catastrophic for Swindon - as they'd lose 3 points vs Lakeside.

Looks like Poole have a problem for the Semi Finals anyway. Milik is required in Czecho.

As these fixtures are additions to the main season,Poole will have to go with a 6pt Premier League rider.

A similar problem with the Poles IF they get to the Final.

Add in the transfer deadline looming very quickly, what can Poole do/not do regarding any possible replacement for Ward if the FIM decision comes after that date?

Simples the rules will be changed.

Why have the dates been agreed to clash them. Surely dates should have been made for Play off final so teams were at strength.

Could play offs not be moved back a week?

This would help teams make sure they get all there fixtures fufilled & also that teams are at strength for the final?

No doubt Poole knew about these dates all season and have THJ lined up to replace Milik.

Looking at all this, I think it is possible Eastbourne could get in the playoffs due to rain offs.

7 matches to ride away and rain offs coming thick and fast.

What happens if a team fails to get a match in by the end of the season? do the points go to the away team?

Also, when rearranging a rainoff. Does the away team have the right to refuse a date given if he has rider availability issues? Say for example Coventy offers a date when Joonas and Cam are long tracking, Eastbourne say no, we wont ride that date. Where do the points go if Coventry cant find another date?.

If a meeting can't be raced then it means the fixture is just raced after the play off date. Meaning neither team get any points before play offs.

Eastbourne will struggle to make play offs on just home meetings so they can't afford any away rain offs either (bees v Eastbourne may yet be a double header)

Think it used to be the home team offered 3 dates if the away team refused them all it went to the BSPA to decide a date and that's when it had to be.

Probably changed now tho.

Hopefully.

Coventry have been fair to other teams arranging home fixtures where the away team have most of their riders but bees have no facility and use NL riders for their heat leaders. That said Coventry have still won those home meeting even with heavily weakened side.

The play-off start was announced on Sky last Monday during the Bees/Robins fiasco - Monday 29th September is the first leg of the semi-finals. Followed presumably by the next 3 Mondays, as per the FIM list.

Eastie are due at Poole this Wednesday and the weather forecast is looking grim!!!!

Thanks.

With the play offs now put back a week, I wonder if the cut off date will be with so many rain offs looking likely.
