Ipswich Witches V Workington Comets Pl 21-8-14 @ 7-30pm

Recommended Posts

This meeting sees the first visit of the season to Foxhall of Workington, a team with monumental fixture problems predominantly caused by the weather. They visit with playoff ambitions if they can complete enough meetings and will certainly be looking to pick up something from a match that is vital for both teams.

With the Witches having picked up 7 league points from 2 away fixtures in the last few days they don't want to waste that effort by losing at home in this one.

The Witches will be at full strength and the Comets have 2 changes at reserve due to injury problems.

Personally I'm looking forward to the meeting as it's always nice to see some different opposition, not the same teams over and over again and will need hoping for a reasonable size home win having snatched defeat from the jaws of victory so spectacularly in Cumbria earlier in the season.

So how does everyone think this one will pan out?

I rate Worky highly and they should provide a stern test.

They have riders that go well at Foxhall (we have chosen JG RB RW as guests previously) whilst Howarth and Campton have generally been competitive on their visits.

With the recent improved form of Cam and Adam we should have too much depth and be able to send the Comets home empty handed.

50-40 Up the Witches!

Think we will really have to ride well to get anything out of this, Ipswich going very nicely Thank You at the moment so nothing short of full commitment required?

We have won here before against the odds so it's not an insurmountable problem, we have riders whom normally do quite well round Foxhall so it certainly shouldn't be all doom and gloom, our reserve combo will be the key in many races tho an improved effort from Campton is long overdue also and could be vital!!

I'm going to take a chance on a point with a 47-43 loss as I really think that if we are to get any movement up the table then points gathering, in the short time we have available, has to start sooner rather than later, that sooner is tomorrow? :t:

I must be seeing this meeting differently from everyone else. The only rider I see scoring well is Wells. Josh had a good meeting once, but apart from that just an average number 1 at Ipswich, Bach is only any good at Ipswich if he gets away with rolling jump starts, don't see the reserves scoring much, maybe 5 between them. Kyle normally scores around 8 but doesn't win many races. Personally I can't see them scoring much more than than mid 30's

Not sure Baldy Josh is a very good rider and he's scoring very well at Elite level too.

But TBH haven't really taken much notice of his Foxhall form so I'll take your word on him not being great here.

I still remember vividly Glasgow getting a draw here not so long ago, and unfortunate not to get the win.

Worky on paper look far superior to Glasgow with all due respect to them so I've a feeling it could be a good close meeting.

We've been in good form, but we've been in good form previously this season and still always managed to throw in a shocker here and there so not taking anything for granted!

I must admit personally I think this could be closer than alot of people think as Worky have a number of riders more than capable of scoring well, as said Glasgow came and should have won but Somerset are a much better team than them and have been well beaten 3 times at Foxhall!

It all depends on who turns up on the night and track prep, if it's grippy I'm not sure that will suit the Comets at all.

Side issue, Jenga you must be a pessimist like me, never expect too much but if you pull something out of the bag it's a bonus!

only taking the we. hope we stuff you lot big time and your reserves take a good hammering from our guest and j.j.

bach i believe came away with 15 big ones. mr howarth has came back better than ever after his long lay off.josh is good for 7/8 points any where. wells is superb at vauhall. viva the away win. mason, you never know what to expect. you always get a good ride out of him later in the meeting. be afraid of the BIG C. only a rain off can save the watches from another home D feat. lol

(hope thats better reading for ya. ).

nearly forgot jame , our guest rider for tonight. .. 4/5 points will do marra.

I'm with you on this one Super Blue it should be a close one, but then I've thought that before recently and the Witches have smashed the opposition. Workington have riders who ride Foxhall very well as we tend to use them as guests when needed. Kyle Howarth looked good on that crap Coventry track Monday when a lot were struggling. Think this one will come down to the performance of the reserves.

Mmmmmmm, maybe I need to change my prediction, Wells at 2 is massive, but with Kyle now at 5 with a reserve that will probably even it out, I don't see any heat advantages from that pairing, but Wells and Josh could get plenty and a real bonus using that pairing if the comets need to use a tactical ride. I now think comets will score 40
