mdmc82
Have no doubt that track conditions played their part, but even so, that is a very, very impressive showing from Coventry. They're coming into form at the exactly right time. Playoffs are looking very interesting! showing they are capable of riding any track which is what you need. 11points in last 4 meetings - (5 away points) (6home)
Bagpuss
When Coventry are able to track their full 1-7 you'd fancy them against anybody over two legs at the moment.
blueherb777
So Lakeside have given up then ????????/
A ORLOV
Only Nilsson scored well for Lakeside, along with Rory as a guest, if monday is not rained off they are likely to get hammered again at Swindon.
Mjolnir
Except for Rory and Kim, that was an embarrassing performance by the Hammers. Coventry consistently beat us out the start and just seemed much more interested than we did - full credit to them, they fully deserved the win. The track conditions were very tricky, especially at the start. Well done to the track staff for making it rideable (just about) after the heavy rain shortly before the start of the meeting. The Lakeside track is usually very well prepared but there's only so much you can do! Coventry certainly visited at the right time though - we're having our usual bad luck and our season is crumbling around us as it always seems to. I didn't hear all of Jon's comments, but if he was suggesting that Bech might be replaced then I have mixed feelings. He has been brilliant, but he has also been missing a lot for various reasons. I want a team of riders who are committed to the club, but at the same time it would be terrible to potentially damage our relationship with a young talent who has so much potential. I would hate to see him visiting with another team! Edited August 23, 2014 by Mjolnir
Vincent Vega
Terrible performance from the Hammers well played to the Bees who put on a brilliant team effort. Hopefully Danny King will replace Watt not Bech.
thecoombdog
Rory out on a tactical now so could be very close in a minObsessed with Davey Watt now and you are even popping up on my twitter feed slating him! At least it takes the heat of your pathetic obsession with Swindon and our team spirit. Cov looking good but Lakeside are so poor.

Gemini
To all the members tweeting Davey Watt give it a rest. It is actually quite abusing now. Criticise Davey on here if you want but there is no need for fans to stalk Davey on Twitter. Well he started it on Friday so it's his own fault if he's getting some back. And no I've not been joining in as I'm not really into twittering or whatever it's called.
Sienna Ryan
But some of the tweets he has been receiving are quite ridiculous. Good on you Gemini . Think it hasn't helped though Gater1 that Davey has also been quite rude and abusive to fans. The lakeside fans esp deserve a bit more respect
JonHWeiner
What a great win. I was starting to feel sorry for the Hammers fans!
waco
No excuses Coventry were the better team ,,The track however was not like it normally is including the starting gate so i presume set ups were wrong...There was some improvement towards the end as the track returned to normal And Nillsen and Schlien apart the team was poor tonight and Cookie was not well pleased .Coventry attacked the track with some lightning gating and got what they deserved a great win

I'm sure I heard Jon Cook say that Bech has now cried off for Swindon on Monday, and that seemed to be the final straw for him. The Hammers let their fans down badly this week and changes may well be made, but alas too late to save the season. Take nothing away from the Bees though, they wanted it more tonight and deserved their 4 points. I'd be worried about them if I were Poole or Kings Lynn. KevH
I'm sure I heard Jon Cook say that Bech has now cried off for Swindon on Monday, and that seemed to be the final straw for him. You probably did hear that, but the facts are Mikkel got injured riding for Denmark in the U21 SWC Final and has pulled out of his Polish League meeting on Sunday and his Elite League meeting on Monday. Bryce
Ah well if the lad is genuinely injured then of course sympathy is due. I hope it's nothing serious and he gets well soon. I don't think any facts are going to change Cookie's opinion on signing riders with a lot of international commitments in future though. KevH
I don't think any facts are going to change Cookie's opinion on signing riders with a lot of international commitments in future though. The irony of that is Cook complains about riders putting international appearances before Lakeside meetings, but he gives an open hand to Adam Ellis and Ben Morley to choose between their PL team and the Hammers. Hypocrisy from the top drawer.....and he is condoning the fans being cheated when Ellis/Morley choose Ipswich/Kent !!!
Halifaxtiger
It rained pretty heavily about an hour before the start but aside from the first couple of heats there was nothing wrong with the track at all, Nilsson showing it was possible to pass. Bees were very impressive indeed and Will prove a real handful in the play offs. Watt aside, i thought the Lakeside boys tried hard but were simply outclassed on the night. I thought Jon Cook's comments were very honest - credit to the bees but we weren't good enough. Even if Bech's is playing absolutely straight, you can see why Lakeside might want someone else.r
