Anders Thomsen Replacement

Recommended Posts

Don't need to see him to know that scores of 0, 1+1 and 4 are pony. He'll get nowhere near his assessed 7 point average.

You are calling him pony but havent seen him..... So we ALL know that he is not a 7 point rider, we all knew that before he came over, we all knew he wasnt a no 1, most of us have the brain function to realise that he is a young lad starting out. Like many before him he has been brought over to get an average with a long term view, its not his fault incompetance in Glasgows team building management left him at no 1 on 7 points assessed. SO after a couple of meetings you decide to label him 'pony' yet you dont even know for example is he off the pace? does he have a good riding style? does he look as if he has raw talent?

Want to tell me what Josh Grajczoneks first 3 scores were even riding further down the order? Or any of a few dozen other riders in the last few years who have come across on an assessed average. Come to that Aaron Fox for Edinburgh this season?

You are unrealistic and for a comment to have any real bearing it has to be based on substantiated fact and frankly it seems to come off the back of a bandwagon.

If he was on the pace he would have scored more points. Good idea to get him a nice low average so he can ride at reserve next year though rather than a young British rider who is also just starting out. I'll not comment any further on the attempted patronisation in your post.

Josh Grajczonek's first three scores: 6+1 away at Edinburgh. 3+2 at home to Berwick and 10+3 at home to Edinburgh. Terrible compared to Palovaara you'll agree. Also riding in his first three meetings for Glasgow at the same time as Grajczonek was Mitchell Davey, another rider who managed to be given chance after chance here and never amount to more than a reserve. His first three scores? 0, 3 and 4+2.

Aaron Fox is another not good enough to be in the Premier League, not many riders who come over are. Simple answer should be that these riders aren't given a real average until their exceeds the assessed figure they are given.

Substantial fact is his average after 3 meetings in below 2 points, I'd be surprised to see it much above 4 before the season is out.

To be fair, in his first meeting over here he scored 10 points in the U21 qualifier at Leicester defeating the likes of Manzares, Fricke and Krcmar in races which was a decent effort.

Whilst it seems RocketBen is being a tad harsh one point I do agree with him on us that riders should retain their starting assessed average if they dont achieve a higher real one.

By retaining an assessed average as the minimum for the season, this could benefit a team inasmuch that a higher scoring rider could remain at reserve.

Also if the assessed rider was unavailable, then r/r or guest replacement would be more advantageous.

could still use the real average for team position and facilities.

Changed your stance from he'll get no where near an assessed average.

It seems only you are judging him against an assessed average.

Certainly not anyone else with a sense of realism.

You are trying to make a point - but not very clearly, nor convincingly.

In fact, just undermining your own credibility.

So if actually replacing an assessed rider in the declared team, which average would you use ?

the lower one. Would make teams think before just bringing over a donkey on a hunch.

Could potentially use a floor limit instead as a half way house. ie assessed 7 couldnt fall below 6 and assessed 5 not below 4.

Since it is fairly clear the Glasgow promotion have agreed to release Thomsen since they couldn't afford to maintain an agreed deal, it is impractical to submit names which will cost as much or more to replace him?

Glasgow, given any fiscal prudence, will shore up their side with inexpensive UK-based lads and stagger to the end of the season.

Their supporters should consider the alternative, which would be to "do a Birmingham".

Fair play , usual sanctimonious stuff from the bad end of the M8

To be fair to Rocket Ben , his own team are gash and we're probably about the only other team bad enough for him to have a pop at .

Anyhoo , at least i've heard of our new signing this time

LOL!

RocketscienceBen stating the bleeding obvious about a future average and an assessed average.

Will be interesting to see how he goes first time back here Friday, was a very handy rider on his day so should still be more than capable of doing Glasgow a decent job especially as he's been keeping his eye in abroad!! ;)

Aaron IS good enough.

Constantly scoring double his average around the dale, and as soon as he starts learning more about away track, (most of which he was seeing for the first time) he will start staying more away.

I Also think the Same will happen with VP, who looks like he can be a steal on a lower average next year.

I wouldnt brand about the phrase "not good enough" until the rider has had a couple of years and doesn't look like improving.

I like it when people make stuff up to win that arguement. So Aaron Fox is averaging 10 at home? As he's only averaging 4 over all we have to assume he's scoring -2 away then! Even I could better that.

I was referring to his current average of 3.20, not his 5.00 average.

Still two problems with that. If he's averaging twice his average at home he is getting 0 away. And frankly thats pants, his average is 5, he's a failure. Only averaging 3.2 is not good enough.
