Preview Swedish Elitserien 2014, Round 14

Televised meeting: Ikaros Smederna - Vargarna live Eurosport 2 18.00 BST / 19.00 CEST

race card: https://www.mediafire.com/?i89oizn12p12c0t

live results: http://www.svemo.se/sv/Grenar/Speedway/

current standings: http://www.svemo.se/sv/Grenar/Speedway/Elitserien2014/Serietabell/

Ikaros Smederna - Vargarna

Ikaros Smederna (30)

  1. Grzegorz Zengota
  2. Kenni Larsen
  3. Pawel Przedpelski
  4. Oliver Berntzon
  5. Peter Karlsson
  6. Mikkel Michelsen
  7. Magnus Zetterström

Vargarna (60)

  1. Jason Doyle*
  2. Pontus Aspgren*
  3. Martin Vaculik
  4. Daniel Davidsson R/R
  5. Adrian Miedzinski
  6. Tomasz Gapinski*
  7. Billy Forsberg*

The battle for play offs. Smederna vs. Vargarna. For Smederna Grigorij Laguta is still not feeling fit enough for a comeback.

However compared to last week, both Kenni Larsen and Pawel Prezedpelski are back for Smederna. Vargarna are missing

Peter Kildemand who is out due to a concussion. Vargarna opt to use R/R for Daniel Davidsson since they want it will give

them a stronger reserve pairing. Riders marked with * can ride as RR for Davidsson.

There has been allot of rain the area both yesterday and today but reports says that it haven't rained that much at the track

though so hopefully the meeting will be able to go ahead. Smederna have to win with at least 51-39 to be certain

of a place in the play offs. A win with less then 51-39 might also be enough depending on the result between Dackarna and Rospiggarna.

Piraterna - Indianerna

Piraterna (34)

  1. Greg Hancock
  2. Linus Sundström
  3. Chris Holder
  4. Bjarne Pedersen
  5. Darcy Ward* / Simon Gustafsson
  6. Fredrik Engman
  7. Simon Gustafsson / Anton Rosén

Indianerna (56)

  1. Fredrik Lindgren
  2. Kenneth Bjerre
  3. Piotr Protasiewicz
  4. Antonio Lindbäck
  5. Niels-Kristian Iversen
  6. Mikael Max
  7. Joel Andersson

*Its a bit uncertain if Darcy will be allowed to participate in this meeting. If he is not allowed to race, he will be replaced by Anton Rosén.

FIM are working on Darcy's case and a decision might come today already. Piraterna have somehow managed to sneak up second place

although imo they're not as good as they might seems. They have had some fluke with their opponents not being full strength and

also they have benefited from the tactical substitute rule by using Ward and Greg in extra heats.

Indianerna almost lost at home against Smederna last week and this week they have decided to replace Cameron Woodward

with Kenneith Bjerre. If Piraterna looses this meeting they might also loose 2nd place to Rospiggarna if they win.

Elit Vetlanda - Västervik

Elit Vetlanda (53)

  1. Tai Woffinden
  2. Bartosz Zmarzlik
  3. Jaroslaw Hampel
  4. Tomas H Jonasson
  5. Emil Sayfutdinov
  6. Jacob Thorssell
  7. David Ruud

.Västervik (37)

  1. Peter Ljung
  2. Krzysztof Kasprzak R/R
  3. Przemyslaw Pawlicki
  4. Tomasz Jedrzejak
  5. Tobiasz Musielak
  6. Ludvig Lindgren/Ted Hagansbo. // Ludvig is doubtful, shoulder injury. If he doesn't ride Ted Hagansbo will take his place.
  7. Mathias Thörnblom

Elit Vetlanda shouldn't have any problems winning over Västervik. Västervik who are again using R/R for Kasprzak.

Ludvig Lindgren had a crash two days ago and is said to have problems with his shoulder after that crash.

He is supposed to see a doctor today and if he isn't able to ride, Ted Hagansbo will take Ludvig's place.

Dackarna - Rospiggarna

Dackarna (49)

  1. Nicki Pedersen
  2. Joonas Kylmäkorpi
  3. Michael Jepsen Jensen
  4. Alexandr Loktaev R/R
  5. Krzysztof Buczkowski
  6. Dennis Andersson
  7. Victor Palovaara

Rospiggarna (41)

  1. Andreas Jonsson
  2. Maciej Janowski
  3. Kim Nilsson
  4. Timo Lahti
  5. Mads Korneliussen R/R
  6. Chris Harris
  7. Jonas Davidsson

A very interesting meeting. Dackarna fights to secure a place in the play offs and Rospiggarna are fighting for second place in

the standings. Dackarna are again using R/R for Loktaev despite that he is not injured. He rode last sunday (9 days ago) in Poland

and scores 11p. He rode Monday last week and scored 9p. The he called in sick just before Dackarna's meeting on Tuesday last week.

Then he rode in Russia and Thursday and now he apparently is "injured again":

Rospiggarna are also using R/R for Korneliussen who crashed and are unable to ride. Rospiggarna started the season well but

now have two straight losses, against Smederna two weeks ago and against Piraterna and perhaps they "topped their form" to early?

There are three teams fighting for two places in the play offs and also two teams fight for the second place in the standings.

There are several different scenarios for both fights:

Positions 5-7:

Scenario 1:

Smederna wins with 51-39* or more against Vargarna.

Dackarna win against Rospiggarna.

Smederna and Vargarna would have 15p each in the standings Then positions are decided by rider points quota. Won rider points divided

by lost rider points. Smederna would then have a better rider rider points quota by 0,001 of a point. Smederna and Dackarna to play offs.

Scenario 2:

Smederna wins with 51-39 or better against Vargarna.

Rospiggarna wins with 50-40 or better against Dackarna.

Smederna, Vargarna and Dackarna would all end up on 15p in the standings. Then positions are decided by rider points quota.

Smederna and Vargarna would have a better rider points quota then Dackarna. Smederna and Vargarna to play offs.

Scenario 3:

Smederna - Vargarna ends with 51- 39 or worse (for Smederna).

Dackarna looses with 42-48 or better.

Dackarna and Vargarna to play offs.

Fight for second place. In general Rospiggarna needs to get one more point then Piraterna.

Scenario 1

Piraterna wins with more then 56-34 Piraterna takes second place regardless of Rospiggarna's result.

Scenario 2

Piraterna wins with 55-35 or less.

Rospiggarna wins with 49-40 or more.

Rider points quota will decide and Rospiggarna will have a better quota then Piraterna. Rospiggarna finishes 2nd.

Scenario 3

Piraterna wins with 55-35 or less

Rospiggarna wins with 48-42 or less.

Piraterna finishes second.

Scenario 4

Piraterna - Indianerna ends with a tie or worse for Piraterna

Rospiggarna wins.

Rospiggarna finishes 2nd.

I think i got all relevant scenarios covered. Vetlanda could theoretically finish 2nd but I find that very unlikely so I haven't covered that.

Dackarna could also theoretically end up on 4th place but I don't think that is likely either.

If anyone who watches Sweden on a Tuesday regularly and hasn`t seen this thread http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=77494 please read it,because Eurosport don`t appear to be showing the play-off matches in there entirety.

It's my first season of following Swedish speedway on a regular basis and I'm not familiar with the format

just by looking at your link there I see there are quarter finals, semi finals etc

surely to have a quarter final, you need 8 teams??? and there are only 8 teams in the league??? I'm probably missing the obvious here

Tonight's tv meeting from Eskilstuna between Smederna and Vargarna are in a big doubt due lots of rain both yesterday and today.

However according to Smederna it haven't rained that much at the track. There will be no decision before 17.30 Swedish time.

Good luck for tonight you two :)

Will Greg be back anytime soon?

If you can keep Pawel you will have a good chance.

Allowing Ward to ride with a ban hanging over his head makes speedway look daft but then what's new.

How long does it take a committee to conclude the bleeding obvious.

Ghostwalker said he had been on a bike again recently but no indication as to when a track return happens. Get tonight successfully out of the way first . We hope!! Thanks for the wishes and great to see you here again. Have you been travelling to far off exotic lands? Alan.

Just got back from a Baltic Cruise and was in Riga the week before the GP. Went to Tallin, St Petersburg, Lithuania and Denmark.

Still feel rough from an overdose of Gin. :)

Hope Greg gets back soon and your lot do the business tonight :)

Off to a good start in heat 1, but a looooooooooooooooong way to go. Zengota was really good in the Polish Individual Final last Thursday, so that's another plus. Hope springs eternal.

From all the places you visited, was there one city that stood out? Or were they all enjoyable?

Track is a bit heavy but i've seen a lot worse. Now the opening heats are out of the way i think we should see some good racing.

Decent start for Smederna. Got to keep their foot on the gas though.

St Petersburg was unbelievable. Amazing city.

Riga old town is a sight to see. Tallin and Copenhagen were great. Also went to Rostock and Klapedia and they were good too.

Had a good look around Riga but did not see any posters for GP. Lots of pop stuff and various events happening but no speedway. :(

Doyle was to blame for that.

Olly was lucky there.

My wife went to a conference in Riga a few years ago and was very impressed.I'd like to see the St Petersburg symphony doing the 1812 overture with cannons and fireworks blasting in the night sky.We all have our quirks.

I thought I saw some crazy refereeing at Brandon last night but blimey, this referee just took bizarre reffing to a new level. Stupidly dangerous decision not to put the red lights on, he should be taken to task for that. Feel a bit for Berntzon even though he could probably have got up, don't blame him for staying down when Doyle was clearly well out of shape and should arguably have been excluded.

Saw Cozy Powell do that 3 times with Rainbow.

1812 is a rather stirring piece whoever is doing it :)
