Swindon V King's Lynn (21/08/14)

Recommended Posts

A good result for the Robins with some good racing tonight. K B did well for the Stars and Lewis Rose pushed our riders hard as did Robert Lambert in the latter part of the meeting. We just need to do the same next week at home and also see if we can get a win at Kings Lynn on wednesday.

Must admit I didn't have a good view of the starts.

I looked at lunch time :)

One thing, though. Never, ever, take their (BBC get their information from the Met Office) word for it - always get a few opinions from other forecast sites.

In my experience, they are very good at forecasting what the weather will be in an hour, and pretty rubbish at forecasting what it will be in a couple of days.

Yes. Seems I made the wrong call yesterday, but oh well! Life goes on. Judging by peoples comments on how we performed as a team, it was probably a good thing I didn't go  Might have ended up travelling back today feeling short changed or whatever! You win some. You lose some. BUT, I don't want us to throw away our chances now so late in the season when we have pretty much led the whole way up until just recently! I do not want us to throw the towel in!

Sky missed out on this meeting, would have been a good advert for speedway. All the Rockin Robins up for it, including Hansi, he sure looked at home,( he knows how popular he is at Blunsdon), loved him bringing his son around on the bike at the end. Electric atmosphere from the good size crowd. Dak terrific , pleased we signed him. Even the weather behaved for a change!!

Well done all the Robins, you did us proud. :t:

Im actually surprised you havent accused Dak of delibrately taking out Hans to scupper your play off bid!

Why would I? Could tell it was a racing incident.

If injured then we have 2 fixtures against lakeside over weekend so surely that wouldn't help Swindon either.

.

I know this is what we supposedly call "banter" here, but to get all serious for a second, I think it's best for Swindon to forget about Coventry as they look a cert for the play-offs anyway.

What Swindon (and, indeed, Coventry) really want is for everyone to turn over Lakeside and Eastbourne, neither of whom look particularly good sides anyway.

After last night I'd be more concerned about Eastbourne taking points from King's Lynn.

Don't be so sure about Cov - 7 home matches to race, and while 3 points against Lakeside this evening should be OK I don't think they are going to see much action on Monday. That would leave them six home matches to fit in between 5th and 19th of September!

I think Swindon need to concentrate on finding a restaging date for next Monday's clash (with Lakeside) and then bring their 'A' game to the Cov fixture. Should be an interesting match - even though as a Leicester and Reading fan I'll obviously be hoping both teams lose

What's going on with Lewis Kerr? He looked terrible tonight. At the moment way behind Newman, Garrity and S Worrall (potential playoffs high scoring reserves).

I think Lewis' two nasty falls are catching up with him, don't believe his shoulder is anywhere near right and the finger has only made things worse. The wave he was riding on the crest of at the start of the season has long gone, let's hope he can find some form again quickly.

Personally think kerr is better than newman but kyle is riding out of his skin and kerr is struggling for whatever reason

I think GB is right. Kerr was flying till he started having his falls and injury time out. With some comfort was the standout reserve till half way thru the season (closely followed by Blackbird).

Reserves (as in all seasons) are an absolute key for running into good form and maintaining it, particularly come play off time.

A poor performing top reserve means you are unlikely to be in contention.

Worrall (who has maintained his high standard) and now Garrity and Newman are starting to score big points which will make all the difference in the run in and come the play offs.

The last few weeks the Stars as a team however have looked off form and jaded. Iversen looks like he has a touch of the Tai`s at the moment whilst Schlein is always exposed when the big guns falter.

Worrying time for Stars fans and those who believe the Stars have earned the right to be considered champions this season.

Agree wholeheartedly. Just back after my trip to the Riga debacle (and yes, I didn't get to Daugavpils but heyho, saw Villnius, Riga and Tallinn and enjoyed them all.) What a cracker that was last night-tremendous racing, a brilliant track and a fab result for the Rockin' Ones. I still have my doubts about us making the play-offs and whether we could overcome the probable opposition if we do but I guess a lot will depend on Eastbourne and Lakeside's abilities away and whether Coventry get all their matches in by the cut-off. Watch this space! Well done to all Robins last night, it looked like they all trusted the track not to serve up any surprises, gated very well and attacked the track with aplomb-I think Schlein and PUK were a little off colour but essentially were beaten by better riding from Swindon. My man of the match was North and Batch and Morra and Gusto-looks like we have three heat leaders at last!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you 100%. Coventry are certs in my eyes unless the weather prevents them which will be a farce. Defo between us and the other 2 for the last place.

You made a call based upon what you were told. Done it many times myself only to then be proved wrong.

You missed a cracking meeting..............but then I'm not a Lynn supporter :D

I still think that the Stars are the best team in the EL on their day. Last night just wasn't one of them.

Regarding form, when does a blip become a dip?!?

Have more faith...... Quality is permanent, whereas current form is only temporary.
