Belle Vue V Lakeside/eastbourne Double Header 18/08/14

Recommended Posts

Can anyone advise me how we apply for a refund ? My wife and I came up to watch Eastbourne and of course it did not take place.

On the Belle Vue web site http://www.bellevueaces.co/default.aspx

it explains how the admission tickets can be used for future meetings but not how to obtain a refund. I would suggest you send them an email. The various addresses are listed in the contacts section of the site.

More to the point will anyone daft enough to have gone get acrefund on half of their 25 nicker or will it be deemed enough to have staged 12 of the 30 heats

I don't see the issue. The fans have a readmission ticket for a meeting. No different to if any other meeting gets called off before the start.

There isn't an issue.

As for a refund, lol! Get a £12.50 refund and then pay £16.50 for the restaging, thick or what.

So it appears that to use the readmission ticket will cost an additional £8.00. For an Eastbourne fan it will have cost them £33.00 to watch their match.

Thick or what is an apt description of anyone daft enough to do it.

Nice, so you pay for 2 meetings. Dont even see 1 full meeting and they expect you to pay extra to see another meeting? Good luck with that one! People paid for 2 meetings, they should be allowed free entry to another meeting.

Indeed. Particularly for any Eastbourne fans. They have already paid £25.00 to see their match but are now told it will be another £8.00.

Actually if you just take a copy of this

The turnstiles will be open by 6pm with the first fixture, versus Lakeside, due to get underway at 7pm, the agreed admission prices of Adults £25; Concessions £18, Children £10 and under 12's free will cover both meetings.

It clearly states that the £25.00 will cover both meetings so you need not pay anymore for the rearranged Eastbourne fixture

It stated that the admission fee covered both matches but plainly referred to that date when they were being run together. The website makes plain that the normal admission cost is £16.50.

Belle Vue could have charged £33 for the double header, the normal cost for two matches but didn't. They no doubt realised many could not afford that and so passed on the savings they gained in paying less for track rent and travel expenses than they would have had to pay for separate matches.

As only one match was run their expenses were as they would be for any single match. Accordingly, they have deducted the usual entrance fee leaving the tickets with a monetary value of £8.50 to be used at any future meeting. Hardly seems unreasonable.

Funny isn't it how the only people who have managed to get themselves into a lather about it weren't there.

Imagine you went to a shop to buy a widget for £10, and the shop has an offer of 2 for £15, so you buy two.

But then you find you don't use the second one or it's faulty, so you take it back. The shop aren't going to give you £10 back. They'll either replace it with a similar one, or give you £5 back.

That's exactly what's happened here. The refund is spot on.

No it's not. 1 has broken, you've taken it back to be replaced only to be told you now have to pay the extra. That's not fair. People paid for 2 meetings, they should not have to pay extra now.

I understand that if you're an Eastourne fan you may want only to see the one match and I can certainly understand the frustration when the second match has to be postponed.

However, you knew or could have found out the cost before attending and I can't see many clubs opening the turnstiles again when the first match is over to allow in a few away fans. There would be no fixed starting time for the second match and no doubt some would be upset if they were then charged the normal admission price.

My guess is that most away team fans travelling to a double header would want to take the opportunity to see two live matches. I would and did in the 60's and 70's when double headers were more common.

I am still waiting for a reply from the promotion but not holding my breath. I will know better another time !

If you sent it after I posted the details for you on the 21st, then I think you have not given them much time. I don't know which of the various available email addresses you sent it to but if no reply within 10 days you might try emailing Chris Morton. He is usually very helpful.

I hope you manage to sort it out.

Thanks again Aces51. I was going by most business people that I email. I usually get a response same day or within 24 hours.

Its nothing whatsoever like what happened here. More like finding the two for £15.00 offer on the widgets but once you handed over your money they tell you only one is available and you will have to come back next week for the other and pay an additional £5.00 to get it.
