Belle Vue V Lakeside/eastbourne Double Header 18/08/14

We better ride under protest

It was only last week bech was out for 6 weeks but rides a week later in the U21s. It's everything that is wrong with our farce of a sport

Apparently the dmu have an agreement that the rider doesn't have to race 2 days before or a day after a international meeting. Now this sport is a joke. So they get away with schlein tomo. Will be interesting to see what happens in lakeside next match

How the hell have lakeside got Rory schlein guesting for an injured bech when bech is not injured enough to miss u21s today

Must be riding in pain - think his score today (RRR01) reflects this

Looking forward to this. 19:15 start time. Does anyone know if there is a curfew or has it been lifted for this meeting? Going to be a squeeze if there is

Gonna be a long night with RR......

Given the farce with the guest reserves riding for every team except BV and Rory now being able to help (or not) a title rival to qualify for the POKC I will keep my 25 quid in my pocket....

Maybe when speedway in this country stops being ran so poorly and us fans no longer have the p1ss constantly taken out of us then my 'hard earned' will again support its future....

If it is still there by then....?

Not much interest in this double-header, not the two most exciting teams visiting, (the same must apply when Belle Vue are visitors at away meetings). If the rumours re Zagars wages are to be believed, then quite a few fans will have to turn up to pay it.

Lets hope that the start is not delayed to let in late fans, like they usually do, Belle Vue are not renowned for getting meetings over with quickly, the last home meeting against Kings Lynn seemed to go on forever. R/R is not going to help matters.

I am one of the undecided, as to go or not.

You really could not make it up could you, r/r and two guests which also mean effectively the same reserve pairing will ride for both Hammers and Eagles, I'm sure Adam and Dan will get to know each other pretty well over the course of the evening.

Agree with you. That is exactly how i felt, the EL is taking the p**s out of it's punters. The final straw for me was was 4 years ago, after 41 years of going to Arlington I finally had enough, and have not been to speedway since. Unfortunately, as speedway promoters seem to ignore their customers nothing has changed and it may be that this is the last year for the Eagles. It feels like when you must have you old pet dog put down. You have seen it coming for ages, you are very very sad, but you know deep down it is best that he no longer suffers.

Will this meeting just be staight back to back. On finishes one starts? Will they get it done it time?

Depends on who's the ref. Mr Durno is certainly capable of getting 30 heats in, he managed 15 (including a few re runs) in under 70 minutes at Ipswich a few weeks ago when there was a threat of rain. But the cynic In me reckons the home promotion will be happy with the 2nd meeting being curtailed after 10 or 12 heats.
