I suspect that whatever ban he gets, 'time already served' before the ban is announced will be taken off.

I hope a decision is made soon, and he is back on a bike as soon as possible i would prefer a hefty fine a two year lay/off for me is to harsh. Also for me by making a example of him is not the way to go, the sport world wide is not in a great anough shape to afford to do it stars put bums on seats. My gut feeling is that "time served" will be the extent of his punishment. Time served, plus 2 months wages from 3 clubs, plus his future GP plans, plus the (likely) loss of the EL trophy by the team he captains and leads. That's enough.

The attendance at Vojens showed how much Ward is missed, the sport will have one problem less without him,

I'm getting tired of hearing about Darcy Ward. The world of Speedway will not come to an end if he is missing for a while. When he grows up we can all enjoy watching him again, but until then how about giving the subject a rest?.

Complete rubbish, if you believe the sport will go forward without one of there stars you are deluded. When i go i want to see the best do you? i know he has made mistakes haven't we all?I am not saying he should get away with murder but some of the high or mighty on here need to have a reality check have a look in the mirror have we not all made mistakes along the way.?

Darcy tweeted an apology to his sponsors, fans and clubs today. Seems odd timing if a decision isn't imminent.

Better late than never I guess!

Did you not see the final SEC round last night? Plenty of young, gifted and exciting riders about at the moment, whilst the sport is enhanced by Ward, it certainly doesn't revolve around him. Thankfully the FIM jury won't be swayed by his talent and he'll be dealt with as any other competitor who has fallen foul of the FIM rules and regulations. I'd be very surprised if he didn't receive at least a 1 year ban, he didn't accidently take something that contained a banned substance, he knew the risk of drinking alcohol in some form of excess the night before a major FIM event, but did it anyway and got caught. As the saying goes, don't do the crime if you can't do the time. About time some people accepted that.

Quite frankly, sidney, that is complete nonsense. No one single rider is bigger than the sport. Greg Hancock will soon be retiring; will speedway come to a s top when he goes? Tomasz Gollob ditto. Nicky Pederesen can't be far off retiring either, or at least, no longer in the top flight. Did speedway come to a halt when Chris Holder missed a year? Nothing will happen to speedway that isn't already happening just because Darcy Ward might not be there.

I agree but for me unless you are the most positive person in the world Speedway is in BIG trouble unlike anytime in my view.I will stress again he should take some punishment of course, but i am amazed on this forum how much nastiness is aimed at him.

This is quite a simple rule i follow.........if i am not interested or "tired" of hearing about a subject i just avoid it and let others get on with it.The title of the thread is quite clear,so the next step should be easy for you,eh?

Although being tired of hearing about Darcy ward i guess you won't even read my advice :P

Especially the last 2, seems stupid bets but there we go

I dont think, Sydney, that DW riding next year or not will alter the fact speedway "is in BIG trouble unlike anytime". DW will not be its savior.

He won't but if you lose two many like him well there ent alot of hope not in my opinion anyway. Edited by sidney

To be honest Sid, I would argue that speedway doesn't need characters like Darcy..

As he has intimated in his tweet, he has let Poole Speedway down, he has let his sponsors down and probably most sadly of all he has let the Poole Speedway fans down too...(not to mention his other clubs, sponsors and supporters) - does any sport need such characters ?

If he were available to ride now, the Play Off's would be a far more attractive proposition than they currently are - injuries are part and parcel of speedway, but 'failing to hydrate' (drinking too much) is not excusable in a professional sport and he, like anyone else should accept any punishment forthcoming.

I would add, that he is/was an incredible talent, and I believe he should and would be dominating World Speedway if he was a true professional - sadly (for him mostly) he is not...

Really? Because most people think being accused of/being found guilty of sexual offences, drug offences and drink offences make you a right hoot!

<end sarcasm>

AS I am interested in what others have to say I have read your comment which, though being a tad patronising is a valid response, So iris123, I shall avoid further comment on the subject and say thank you for replying.
