Ghostwalker
PERSONALLY ... yes and yes. But for how long, that is the real question. Had the FIM acted swiftly after his failed test, promptly issuing a six months ban, Ward would most likely have accepted that, the dust would have settled fairly quickly and we could be moving on. A 6 months ban wouldn't be a proper 6 month ban since the season ends in October and why do you think a rider turning up drunk to a Grand Prix should get (in reality) a just as low (or possible even lower) sentence as a rider who drilled a few holes in his silencer.? DRUNK is a very emotive word in this context. The Ward I saw in Daugavpils wasn't drunk.
Humphrey Appleby
I don't see riders drunk or under the influence of alcohol turning up at SGP and SWC meetings. Although tests have been random, how many riders have failed over the past 10 years? Just one... How many have been tested in all that time, or more specifically at regular meetings and not just World Championship events? I've witnessed plenty of riders getting hammered in bars the day before they're riding, and I suspect quite a few might be found to be over the limit if there was widespread testing. This said, I'd accept that a zero limit is somewhat different to the legal limit for driving, and that it doesn't necessarily follow that a non-zero reading means they're unfit to ride. RPNY
DRUNK is a very emotive word in this context. The Ward I saw in Daugavpils wasn't drunk. Now this is a very important point. Let me stress I am not a fan of Ward to say the very least. But theres a big diffrence between being drunk & Alcohol being in your system. He should quite rightly be banned and I believe he will be for next year too, curtailing any chance of being World Champion this year or next at the very least. However it's being made out by some that he was out of his mind drunk which clearly wasnt the case. Anyway he'll get his ban, people will become less tolorent and forgiving and unless he sharpens up pretty quickly he'll just be another wasted talent. Quite clearly a very talented Speedway Rider, but also not a lot between his ears... Edited September 15, 2014 by RPNYC

jacksback
Sorry I haven't read the 80 odd pages in this topic. According to FIM proceedues if a competitor fails an alcohol breath test, he/she is subsequently required to undergo a blood test with A and B samples taken. Does anybody know if this was done. 2ndbendbeerhut
So Dudek gets his ban. Will Ward's follow suit?

Starman2006
THEY always test three ... others were negative Then perhaps there should be a blanket test at ALL GP's !!

Ghostwalker
Is there any Motorsport which alcohol tests all the competitors on the day? BTCC: http://www.btcc.net/2014/05/28/btcc-introduces-first-mandatory-alcohol-testing-in-british-motor-sport/ In a UK first the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship has introduced mandatory breath-testing, on every day at every BTCC event, to ensure that all competing drivers and senior championship officials are free from the effects of any alcohol in their system. Gavan
Darcy has let the club down again and time and time again we use him. I think because he is such a talent we ignore what comes with him but how much more can you put up with, this will be a second playoff he will miss. Next year I hope Matt builds the team around Chris & Jack Holder and Brady Kurtz. Absolulty spot on glad to see a true Poole fan with reasoning. Kyle Newman and Magic and Eddie or Lewis . All good enough for Poole Just wondering why you havent had a pop at Pirates of Poole for his slating of Darcy when you are so keen to jump down my throat for a similar opinion! Pirates Of Poole
Darcy is such a class act on a bike but as a business you have to look at the baggage he brings and trouble, Holder has a mature head on his shoulders and knows the difference between wrong and right. Personally I think Darcy is a better rider than Holder but you can't ignore the issues any more with Darcy. Saying I would not use him next year may be taken out of our hands anyway if he receives a 12 month ban and make the decision easier. My opinion on the league title is simple, since Darcy has acted in stupidity, this will hand the title to Swindon who are currently on a role, I know a lot can happen but that's how I see the current situation. The White Knight
Absolutely no point in a Six Months Ban - if it includes the Winter. A Six Months Ban from the start of next Season would be appropriate.
