Robbie B
No he didn't. He was interviewed, he made mistakes and next time said he'd hydrate before the test. So he's going to try and cover it up next time. hopefully nobody tells him hydrating wont hide the alcohol so he does it again and gets a life time ban. Obviously if any rider get caught a second time for this offence then a ban is appropriate, but for a first time offence at a meeting they should be stopped from riding and receive a large fine. As I had previously stated future monitoring of a rider should hen be put in place to prevent any further breeches.

First time offenders normally get 2 a years suspension and repeated offence will give a harder punishment.
Robbie B
Yes it is really, if speedway riders have to wear leathers and helmets why are dart players allowed (aloud) to wear fancy shirts. Its one law for dart players and one for speedway riders I used dart players had to wear protective clothing under a new EU law in a April's Fool joke on my league website this year and caught a few of my players out with this. But I have know darts in get stuck into people after a bounce-out. and on one occasion a dart went straight a full pint that I had smashing he glass to pieces. That is not how Wada's doping rules work. First time offenders normally get 2 a years suspension and repeated offence will give a harder punishment. I didn't know this. So any rider could be banned for 2 years for a first offence. A harder punishment for further offences I do agree with.

You should save little stories like that. They would liven up a dull party every time. Edited September 4, 2014 by Oldace

Another good one I done was The AF (anti fall out) dartboard. They dartboard I said had a special resin inside it to prevent darts from falling out if they didn't penetrate the board properly. one landlord wanted 6 of them. Tsunami
with his dad I would imagine, possibly amongst others!! That was in 2012 at the back of his house in Oz - out of season - and it didn't amount to a 'conviction' in Aussie law!! That was the point I was going to make to Ghostwalker. So he didn't "get away with it", and of course it was not a speedway related incident, which I think Ghostwalker would know was what I meant.

SteveLyric2
http://sidewaysslider.blogspot.co.uk/ Whats the relevance of that week old blurb??
Bonzo
Well the fact it's about Darcy Ward and the GP incident covers the relevance, since this is what the thread is about. As for the timing of the article, there's not much I can do about that, I've only just seen it. I just thought others might be interested in having a look that's all. I'm sure others won't be either but no offence a mate, not sure what you're getting arsey about. Jeez
SteveLyric2
Just seems a bit pointless rehashing whats been on here several times over since the suspension. Its not saying anything new is it??
The White Knight
Legal !!!! Theres a piece from one of the Polish media sites, which I can't now find the link to, which is questioning the accuracy of the reading and the circumstances of the actual test. Also if the translation was accurate, The FIM's Armando Castagna seemed to be 'recommending' a lenient punishment, possibly a suspended sentence??! So they are setting about letting him off? ONLY in Speedway.
oldace
So they are setting about letting him off? ONLY in Speedway. Not really only in speedway. In most walks of life the little guy is the one to be made an example of. The higher up the food chain you get and the more you are worth to your paymasters the less likely you are to be harshly dealt with. Like i said right at the start, i expect darcy to be given a token punishment
Ghostwalker
So they are setting about letting him off? ONLY in Speedway. However since alcohol is considered to be doping there is a chance that even if FIM gives him a light penalty there is a chance that WADA will appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) it if they consider it a too light penalty. Unlikely - if the testing processes were found to be 'iffy'!!!
pandorum
Why should they be 'iffy'? It's not as if they started doing this the day Ward turned up half p#ssed for a meeting. It's been tried and tested for a long time and I presume accepted by all. The only way it will be deemed 'iffy' is if the powers don't want Ward to be punished because of his position in the hierarchy which is wrong on all levels. It does not matter who he is punishment should be the same. If it's classed as a doping offence then give him the appropriate penalty for that offence. Set a precedent with Ward and the whole testing system might as well be thrown in the bin.
screm
Whether Ward gets a big ban, a small ban, or no ban at all, the important thing is, will he learn from all this. As others have said, and as I believe the answer would be no, so in all likely hood its only a matter of time before Ward does something that lands him in bother yet again.
Trees
I totally agree that the main thing is that Darcy learns from this, at the end of the day that's what we all want from him cos, well, I want to see him race, team ride, wheelie!!! Michael Lee chucked his career away, I don't want to see Darcy do the same, it's not fair on the fans :-)
