If the bloke went out on the raz last night knowing he was riding a speedway bike competitively the next lunch-time he deserves everything he gets. What the legal level is here, there or Timbuktoo has no bearing on the matter. Many people, me included when still working, have jobs where they need to be 100% sober so stay off the pop the previous night accordingly - he should have done the same.

I don't condone his actions. I am just saying, it doesn't hurt to have some compassion. Imagine for a second that something unforeseen happened and resulted in your life taking a downward turn, I am sure you would want any mitigating circumstances to be taken in to consideration? Especially if your livelihood depended on it.

Middleditch told the Daily Echo: "There are mitigating circumstances for Darcy which will come out over the next few days."

He had a major speedway meeting the next day so what 'mitigating circumstances' could excuse drinking the night before.

Did someone spike his lemonade with a pint of lager?

Maybe he cannot tell the difference between Tizer and vodka and coke?

Keeping his arce out of a pub or bar would seem the most sensible option with a GP the next day.

Well said Scotty!

If Middleditch has actually said that then he's a bigger numpty than I thought he was , nobody forced Ward to drink , or is he suggesting that his lime cordial was spiked ?

His livelihood depends on not drinking the evening before a lunch-time speedway match. End of. Drink and motorsport does not mix.

Screm- Darcy has a very nice and attractive woman in his life and from what I have heard has calmed him down a lot. But will be interesting to find out if he was massively over the limit from a night of partying or just slightly over, it has to remembered as well that the limit is lower than for driving a car and could be caused by just two large beers

irrelevant, if he's over he's over.

A supreme talent and he seems to be doing his best to waste it.

Somebody needs to grab hold of him and explain that if you want to be the best you have to be professional. Bruce Penhall liked to party. In fact he always maintained that he rode his best when he was tired but you always knew with Bruce that the racing came first.

Come on Darcy - learn from this!

Don't worry, Middlo will sort him out...:rofl::rofl:

Sounds like that will be the line of his defence. The FIM will not listen to that as an excuse. Their response will be he shouldn't put himself in a position where alcohol is available prior to a competition. They will dish zero tolerance.

No way am I trying to defend the idiot but does anyone know if alcohol tests are normal at GPs or are they random?

I guess what I'm asking is did someone see him drinking and reported it.

Exactly what I thought! If so, good!

Maybe it was this ..... :D

And it's crap like this which leads him to believe his behaviour is acceptable. That and the dullard Middlo fawning over him.

Didn't Matt Ford say one more incident like this and he's out?

A clear lack of an authorative figure in his life and a complete lack of a brain.

Matt Ford did say that but with the push to the Play-Offs he will not see that threat through.

Middlo needs to leave the sport asap. Half the reason ward is how he is is because of that man

Correct

Will be interesting to see what the circumstances were, if there was personal reasons why not just pull out of the meeting ill..

If he`s over he`s over, there can be no degrees of wrongness in this.

Middlo needs to grow himself a backbone and take a stand.
