pandorum
If he has evidence of this then he should pass it on to the authorities as it's his life at stake as well as his fellow riders. Making accusations about people is a bit cowardly if you are not prepared to name those you accuse to allow them to answer your accusations. People blather on about keyboard warriors but what is the difference here?
Gavan
Not a fan of his but he is probably the best rider in the world at the moment, if not then certainly top three. I have Lakeside or should i say Arena Essex on my doorstep but rarely go there, if Poole were in town with Darcy ward i would go, without him i wouldn't bother so British Speedway loses my money. Greg Hancock, Jason Crump, Jarek Hampel, Nicki Pedersen Andreas Jonsson but to name a few all long term employees of British Speedway and they chose to turn their backs and kick British Speedway while it was down, they have all done far more damage to British Speedway than Darcy Ward who love or hate him has remained here to race and yes people pay to watch him. Not the best rider in the world not consistent enough. Most entertaining though. yet i dont get why people on here say he shouldnt get to bigger ban because of who is he is! But can you think of any one better ? yes Greg Hancock and Tai Woffinden to name
screm
The next GP every rider should be tested for booze, Charlie and dope. If they fail kick them out.Tough I know but it sounds like some need to clean up their acts. I`m sure that every rider will be tucked up in bed, and on their best behaviour the night before Gorzow.
dave69
I`m sure that every rider will be tucked up in bed, and on their best behaviour the night before Gorzow. I'm sure they will but don't drugs stay in the system far longer than booze. As for the Aussies being "fond of the nightlife" I have seen a few legless the night before an afternoon meet. spencebel
IMO it does not matter who it is, from the very top rider to any young ones, just starting out in any country. We need to have zero tolerance. NO Favourites.

Blazeaway
If NKI has evidence of wrong doing of any kind, IMO he has a duty to report it. It's a claim not to be sniffed at...

Leicester Lion
Maybe the Speedway Star could do a bit of investigative journalism into the extent of drug/alcohol problems in our sport...Is Ward the exception or the tip of the iceberg?
waiheke1
Reports of Darcy being "dehydrated" no doubt would have not best pleased his sponsors, Monster. With a limitless supply of the energy drink at his disposal, to claim to be dehydrated doesn't make Monster's ability to rehydrate and energize seem very good does it? Monster is an energy drink, not a sports drink (e.g. powerade). It makes no claims about hydration, and there are much better options (including water) for that purpose.
PHILIPRISING
ANY positive alcohol or drug test results are made public so on the evidence of what we know would suggest not much of a problem. Speedway riders like other professional athletes are subject to random tests at any time in any place and know of a few that have taken place this year, including on Woffinden, and all clean.
sommelier
Not the best rider in the world not consistent enough. Most entertaining though. yet i dont get why people on here say he shouldnt get to bigger ban because of who is he is! yes Greg Hancock and Tai Woffinden to name 2 Can you honestly say hand on your heart that Hancock or Woffinden as a good racing brain than Ward enough though I hate to say it. IMO Ward is by far more naturally talented than either of those will ever be, I know you can say they have been world champions.
waiheke1
Wasnt use of coke, weed and speed in common use by the yanks in the 80s ("allegedly"). I don't remember any of them faiking drugs tests though schwartz was fined for being caught with drugs at Heathrow and of course Shawn was stripped of his silver medal for fsiling a prior test (though that was for something a doctor had prescribed from memory). Can you honestly say hand on your heart that Hancock or Woffinden as a good racing brain than Ward enough though I hate to say it. IMO Ward is by far more naturally talented than either of those will ever be, I know you can say they have been world champions. Ward is nore naturally talented, a better racer and team rider. He is the best rider in the world to watch. BUT you cant argue with results, and they say that both tai and greg are better than darcy, primarily due to their consistrncy and darcys comparatively poor gating. Hands up everyone who knew that...c'mon hands in the air...I can't see many hands out there... I suggest that Monster do a bit of marketing with the message that their drink does NOT rehydrate you...just to be sure that no-one else gets it all wrong about them again. orderly
His results were 0.5, after half an hour 0.45 and 0.39. The limit is 0.00. The actual limit is 0.10g/l to allow for the naturally occurring alcohol in the body
Triple.H.
Maybe the Star could do a piece on how often the testers are out and how many riders are are tested,if as NKI has states its like a litmus paper test it cant be too difficult to test everyone. Also find out how often its done in other countries, are they adhering tighter to the rules than GB.
HagueyUK
OK, a speedway fan first, an unblinkered Poole fan second. Always. As I see it. Test 1 = Over the limit. No doubt. The amount it's over it totally irrelevant. Test 2 = Do we know the result of this? If it's over, it's over. Again, the amount it's over is totally irrelevant. Now, people are not happy that a statement has not been made. Maybe it is being challenged? If so there may be some grounds for doing this. Obviously if it's over it is over, but what if the test procedure by the authorities was not conducted correctly? By either the first or second test. This could lead to an appeal based on potential compromised of evidence, and a case could be made resulting in it being thrown out. Morally, this is wrong and I think most would agree with that thinking, however it happens everyday in courts across the UK. Having said that. If both of the tests are over, and have followed procedure, then he should be punished. Now, I believe if it is over, it's over. That's the whole point of the test. If you were stopped on the roads in your car and was found by 2 tests to be over, you would lose your licence for a period if I am thinking right? So really when the FIM come up with the tests to be carried out, they should have a structured punishment already ready to hand out. Losing Darcy to the Poole side would be massive, but if the authorities find him to be proved without question that he was breaking the rule, he should lost his licence for a time. IMO Let me ask this moral question. Many people over the UK each year lose their lives due to other drivers being over the limit on the roads. Do you think that the families of those unfortunate people would be expecting a lesser sentence if the driver was just over the limit, or way over the limit? Guys, just an opinion.
