Grand Central
Let's hope you're wrong. The Sky team should have prepped him over that interview. Clearly they did. Nigel Pearson 'prepped' him throughout the interview itself! And still the gormless thicko in the middle could not make sensible use of it. To think that some people actually WANT this no mark anywhere near the World Championship Trophy. And the PR disaster that would then unfold.
Dornier
They put him on a pedestal and thats just what people like Ward don`t need, it goes to their head and they think they can do what they want. I had a good laugh after last nights Ward interview it was his chance to apologise and show some remorse but he threw it away..
PHILIPRISING
FUNNY how different people can watch the same thing and come to totally different conclusions. Or perhaps their prejudices colour their judgement or alternatively are too biased. Who knows? Personally, I thought Ward was quite contrite. He was never going to go down on one knee and beg forgiveness.I thought his references to Hancock were more to do with his off track life-style than how he rides a bike. Whatever side of the fence we are on, time will tell. But I find the vitriol aimed at Ward by some on here rather sad and do wonder whether he rode for anyone other than Poole it might be less so.
E I Addio
Maybe Kennett was giving the opportunity to be interviewed but sensibly turned it down, something that Ward shouldve done giving his efforts last night, surely one of his advisers shouldve said to him do your talking on the track for the time being. On hearing Ward I am afraid it appears he hasn't learned from his ban and it wont be long before he is caught up in another spot of bother. Since his main advisor seems to be Muddlo its not surprising he followed the example of his mentor and blew the opportunity to set the record straight.

It isn't vitriol - methinks your statement is coloured by your own opinions of Ward. My thoughts were coloured by how I imagined other riders would react in the same situation - and how neutral fans would hear the comments he made. IMHO he should have been more humble regarding the situation. His self belief might get him somewhere on the track - but off track he'll be vulnerable to making more poor errors of judgement.
pandorum
FUNNY how different people can watch the same thing and come to totally different conclusions. It certainly is as ironically you are proof of that. I dislike Ward the man (I use the term in its loosest context) a great deal. If he had disrespected my daughter the way he did someone else's.....I had better end that sentence here HIs sexual assault court case you would have thought would have brought him down to earth but obviously he cares as little for what he does to women as he does for drinking before speedway matches. But his drinking and drug taking should have seen him banned for the rest of this year. As a rider he is one of the best and I always enjoy watching him. But as a person ........... You are right. How you come to your conclusions on this issue is a complete mystery to me. . Edited June 4, 2015 by Grand Central

EnglishRoundabout
What a terrible interview. Even with his no 1 fans Tatum & Pearson trying to coax him in to the correct answer, he failed. No apology or admitting he had leant from his mistakes. He didn't see this as a last chance even after all the things he's done. Cocky and arrogant as always. People will still treat him like a god and he will still believe he is bigger than the sport, however with no remorse or even acknowledgement that he was in the wrong, it won't be long before something else happens. I don't remember Kennett being brought in to interview after his ban. I genuinely think that he wasnt bright enough to understand the prompts from Pearson and Tatum.
nw42
Anywhere I can view the interview? I've had a look around but can't find it anywhere. I'm sure others will fill in the blanks but from memory he was spoon fed the lines by Nigel but completely passed on the opportunity to express a bit of contrition. Nigel asked him if he felt this was last chance saloon for him, his reply was 'no not really' or similar. In the end it seemed Nigel had given up trying to and just said something along the lines of 'so you're sorry for your past behaviour and are keen to get on with your racing', I think Ward replied in the affirmative. I suppose Philip Rising knows Ward a good bit better than most of us, so maybe the way he came across (surly) is just the way he is but it was certainly an underwhelming interview.
TheReturn
As I posted the other day I was looking forward to seeing him race again, but the interview last night was quite a eye opener (it should not have been). I don't expect Ward to be the sharpest tool in the box but surely his advisors have told him to express some kind of apologetic approach whenever interviewed.

Apart from Muddlo ? Surely he just has a few mates with him. All of them with similar IQ. But then again Philip Rising has judged the interview a success. He detected 'contrition'. So if that is how the appearance will be reported. Who cares what normal people think, eh? . Edited June 4, 2015 by Grand Central
TheReturn
Very good points, I think Middlo said the right things when asked about Ward in the interview last night, I assumed Middlo being his team manager would be advising Ward, then again if Middlo is advising Ward it explains everything lol FUNNY how different people can watch the same thing and come to totally different conclusions. Or perhaps their prejudices colour their judgement or alternatively are too biased. Who knows? How ironic. robinsgirl
I felt that in the interview Ward was very 'neutral', as if he didn't really want to be there. I agree that he would come across better if he was humble, but that's difficult if it's not genuine

Ask any non-Poole fans their thoughts on Magic Janowski and I bet the vast majority will tell you he's great, on and off track. Ask non-Poole fans their thoughts on Darcy Ward and most will tell you he is a pillock who is bloody great to watch on a speedway track. Just because someone rides for Poole doesn't make them the anti-christ. I said numerous times last season I was a Milik fan, I admited last night I'd sign Magic in a heart beat if I was a promoter, I'm a fan of Kyle Newman. But because I don't like Ford, Middlo and Ward I'm a "Poole hater" according to some. For a Poole hater I spent an awful lot of time in the company of Poole fans at Cardiff last year, had a really good laugh with them. My comments on Darcy are because he's Darcy Ward, NOT because he's a Poole rider. Frankly, having to see/hear/read the likes of you, Nigel and Kelvin (the speedway media basically) fawning over him just makes my dislike of his greater. I have to question what he has to do before one of you says anything negative about him. Edited June 4, 2015 by SCB

And Poole, in my personal experience, the best promoted Speedway in the UK. Phil is as blinkered and confused as Starman when it comes to 'their' Poole/Darcy issues.
