But that situation really did once happen in speedway, not with police officers I grant you.

Oxford needed a guest for the absent John Davies, he was absent because he had joined Reading, and on this occasion the guest chosen was John Davies, must be the only time a rider has guested for himself.

Couldn't happen in any other sport.

To avoid any gustix-type confusion.

Am I right in thinking that 'John Davies' is any relation to the peroxide-coiffed burger merchant John Davis?

Yes quite a close relative, but no relation to Steve Davis, who was no relation to Joe Davis who made mint balls I believe,

He was only allowed to guest as John Davies and not John Davis due to the 45 day regulation imposed by the FIM.

Thank you for that clarification.

I remain a little confused as surely one of them was married to that Mrs Boswell from Liverpool but still managed to conduct orchestras in his spare time,

No you are thinking of James Last, he was no relative of James Wright, but he did often finish last so maybe there was a distant link on his mothers side

Anyway back to Darcy Ward

It seems that Darcy is playing the role of team captain in the pits. He should not have been allowed anywhere near the track and it would also make more sense to keep him out of the pit area. He is not a rider on the team or a machanic. So if anything he should be sitting in the crowd or tucked away in the office with Matt.

No doubt he is proving that they can't manage without him as team captain and Majic is just there as a pretender to the role. He must be keeping his feet under the table and getting ready for when he makes his come back. Who will be the poor Bu***r who has to give up his place in the team just to make way for the super hero Golden Boy, who never does any wrong.

Get a life what a bitter person you are, ask 70 per cent of the faithful Poole fans what they think.?

70%!!!! Where did you pluck that figure from??

So you are telling me there are more than 30 per cent of fans at Poole want no more part of Ward again? I speak to people within speedway and most are willing to give him another chance, only a few on here who put the knife in.Its laughable really as you would think none of those had ever made a mistake or two in there life.
