norbold
I would have thought that Ward needs to be careful what he says about the FIM and its findings otherwise he could find himself back in front of them on a charge of bringing the sport into disrepute or some such charge.
Grand Central
The sentence given in last weeks statement was described as 'the operative part of the judgement'. I presume that is the sentence in totality. There is no fine imposed, there is no mention of the costs awarded, or not But most importantly there was the total absence of any 'suspended' element. Just the sort of thing that would help keep the poor simpleton on the straight and narrow. At least for a while.
Ghostwalker
But most importantly there was the total absence of any 'suspended' element. All suspensions comes with a "conditional" sentence. That is, the disciplinary committee will take into account any previous offences of FIM's anti-doping rules. A second offence, regardless of when it happened, will usually be considered more severe then a first offence and offender should then expect a harder sentence then after the first offence. SCB
The breath test was taken more than once I am told and DW spent 2 hours trying to pass it which involved drinking large amounts of water and even eating a raw onion in an attempt to pass it. Failed again. Did try the old, penny under the tongue trick then? I think that would have worked for him if he'd tried it!

Humphrey Appleby
If anything it escalated after Katowice. If I recall Erik was rather scathing of the way Hans passed (rode right through) Tommy Knudsen. Didn;t he liken him to a stock car racer. Boo-hoo. Hardly like Tommy Knudsen was some sort of angelic rider on-track.
E I Addio
As I've said right from the outset I do not condone his stupidity - but everyone is entitled to a fair hearing, with all the circumstances being aired and published so that unbiased comment can be made. And Darcy has '21 days from the date of the full reasoned CDI decision' to appeal if required. It will be interesting to see whether he is prepared to put his money where his mouth is and lodges a formal appeal or whether he doesn't appeal but just puts out some cock and bull story that his groupies will swallow without having the factual evidence to challenge the FIM's judgment. Bottom line is whatever ifs and buts he comes up with, if he doesn't make a successful appeal his conviction stands.
SCB
How much does an appeal cost? Because I'd actually be willing to throw a few £££ into a fund to pay for it, anyone else? If we offer to pay he can't really so no can he if he feels hard done by. Lets call his bluff.

Wonder if the FIM have a similar rule?

Lioness
again young Ward seems to be forgetting that he ADMITTED that he had drunk to excess the night before when interviewed. Its like a wee kid trying to change the story to suit their ends - only thing is his admission was broadcast for millions to hear - well thousands anyway! Leg, to, stand-on, not a
theknow 2
Good for his legal team, get a bit more out of him. If the boy had any sense he would leave it alone and move on right or wrong. But he wont and he will not learn from this latest episode either.

You can't use that admission against him because he didn't know what he was saying, because he was drunk.

Gavan
im getting a bit bored and fed up with Darcy Ward now. I said it should have been a 12 month ban and it was 10 so thats fair enough. I like most people want to see Darcy Ward back on a bike. Im sure we all hoped he would accept he did wrong and take his punishment and keep his head down for the next 3 months. But no the jumped up twerp starts gobbing off again. He has learnt nothing and still feels he is above the law and the sport. He is now becoming a disgrace to the sport. Lets hope he appeals and fails and gets a bigger ban, because now that is what he deserves. Try to show the fans you have grown up and moved on but the prat instead continues to be an even bigger prat. Quite clearly he is a lost cause and no the sport doesnt need him
John Leslie
...and even eating a raw onion in an attempt to pass it. Failed again. So in the words of the BSF's very own immortal bard KKS, Darcy really did engage his onions.
customhouseregular
I was bored with the Darcy Ward saga months ago. Did speedway miss him post-suspension? Will this year's GP series suffer without him. Assuming Ward is not picked for the Australian SWC team, will the Aussies get soundly beaten? Wackie
Eating a raw onion. And there we were all thinking that there hadn't been a urine test. if it was actually suggested Ward do this to sober up, somebody took the p1ss!
