screm
Well I bloody well won't, there is no way on earth I'd not go to Cardiff!! Anyway it wouldn't half spice up our weekend, bearing in mind we're spending it with Poole fans Someone to Boo Funny Starry Are you going? If its booing riders, I can think of one rider from Denmark who will be hoping Ward gets the wildcard pick for Cardiff.
sommelier
Speedways credibility once more in danger. IF Ward gets to Cardiff. Okay I will ask you one simple question, do you think in GP's we should be seeing the best riders in the world. If so in that case we have to include Ward, Sayfutdinov, and Laguta, just answer me yes or no!!
gbrussell
Nice try. I especially like the CSI reference. By the way, how old are you?? 61.
OveFundinFan
True, sommelier, but he must not be offered the privileges. We all have to earn privileges. He can do that by keeping his nose clean for at least a couple years before he can be trusted. I have not heard anyone say that he has twittered that he is sorry for the upset he has caused to speedway in general, his country, his club, his fans (I dont to social medias so I rely on others reporting whats going on). It would be really good to know that he is genuinely sorry for what he has done, only he can do that. That would be a good start, then behaving himself for a reasonable amount of thime, let everyone see that he is truly sorry by being a changed man - then he MIGHT start to be considered for privileges. However that rarely happens because a lot of good riders miss out at the qualifying rounds, while others sneak through the cracks. Remember how Andy Smith seemed to qualify most years albeit he did this legitimately. Also the 4 Wild Cards selected are sometimes based around TV coverage in a certain region and are not necessarily the best 4 who are not already in the series.
YerRopes
Darcy Ward as the British wild card at Cardiff - where on earth has that come from ? That would be rewarding his indiscretions and besides, the wild card should be a Brit ! Who on earth would want him there anyway and he'd most likely be total crap after earning his ban and not riding for so long....

So Sayfutdinov should've got wildcards here, there and everywhere last SGP season, the answer to your question is yes, but its not quite that simple. OveFundinFan
It would be utopia to get the top 16 riders in the GP series, truly wonderful if it would happen. It probably never has, even when it was a one night world championship, you got someone who qualified when they were not rated in the top 16, meaning someone rated in the top 16 didnt qualify, and often it would be more then one. and "today" with it being a GP series, the top 16 would change from track to track as riders will be classed better on certain tracks then others. sommelier
Even if he was total crap as you put it, name me a brit & i hate to say it, who would be better! YerRopes
Even if he was total crap as you put it, name me a brit & i hate to say it, who would be better! Irrelevant, it should be a Brit, end of... Just look at some of the other wild cards at the lesser speedway nations if that helps..

YerRopes
You still havent answered my question!! Come July, perhaps a few bearing in mind the banned offender may or may not have returned to racing at that point Anyway, do you understand that you shouldn't have an Aussie (whoever it may be) as the British wild card at the British GP. If so in that case we have to include Ward, Sayfutdinov, and Laguta, just answer me yes or no!! To answer Yes or No is impossible - yes I would like to see the best Riders in the World including Mr. Ward - but - that has to be qualified. I do not want to see somebody there who is so irresponsible as to fail an Alcohol Test is Banned and then welcomed back in to the Speedway GP Community as if nothing had happened. He could have killed or injured somebody. Thankfully he was caught before he rode. I am not against Mr. Ward - I just think that he should serve his sentence without any favours being given. Unless you want to reward him for his irresponsible behaviour of course.
Gavan
Are people actually saying Ward should get the wildcard for the British GP? Come on people get a grip there is no way Ward or Sayfutdinov or Laguta or Vaculik or anyone else who isn't a Brit get the wildcard. It's nothing against Ward though the usual bunch of sycophants will say different, but our wildcard should go to a Brit. Let Darcy ride in the Australian round. I bet these people who want Darcy also moaned the year Harris was given the nod and not Nicholls when they changed the rules that year. Top scoring Brit other than Tai or Bomber should ride end of story. Darcy Ward should only be watching at Cardiff (unless he is in the bar lol)
Starman2006
Yep top Brit in the british final other that Tai and Bomber should go to Cardiff. Personally if Darcy should get a wild card it should be later in the season, maybe Torun.
sandking072
Well, being as Ward has declared himself #notfriends with the FIM on Twitter, his principles will lead him to decline any invitation into an FIM sanctioned event.......won't they? Popular Post Chris Brown
WE carried reports of the court case but being a weekly publication were hamstrung about what we could carry at press time. Philip Have to say I was disappointed, not with he way that the Star reported the facts because as you said the FIM was saying nothing but some of the stuff that was printed quoting Middleditch was frankly ridiculous and I am really surprised it was given print space. There was a stage where his insaner ramblings were on Page 2 or 3 for 2/3 weeks and personal view is that it did the SS no favours giving space to the garbage he was spouting Just my view Edited February 27, 2015 by Chris Brown

If I was Ward I would head hunt Pete Adams to take him under his wing, if I was Ward I would bow scrap steel or borrow to get Adams. I think if this ever happen it would be an amazing partnership. At the Cleveland Arms on Wednesday I said to Adams there are two riders you should take under yur wing, the first one I said was Ward, he smiled and said if only I had the time! the other I said is Bridger, the smile disappeared!!! A poisoned chalice if ever there was one...
Ghostwalker
RESPECT your view but it's up to the readers to make their own judgements rather than us unless, of course, comments were of a racist or homophobic nature for example. How can they make up their own judgement if you (and the only other newspaper covering the story) only print one sided articles? By doing so you have already "decided" what opinion they should have.
