OveFundinFan
Lets ASSUME Darcy gets his suspension turned into a ban.... a 12 month riding ban dated back to the date he was suspended, meaning he can ride again toward the end of 2015, if he wants to. 1) Should he be given the Wild Card no 16 jacket for the 2015 Australian GP ......................................................................................................................... 2) Should he be given one of the four permanent 2016 GP Wild Cards? What do you think?
foamfence
Is that this or next season. Must be this as he's intending to be back during this season. I would say no. I would prefer it with him in but I don't like this wild card thing anyway and would support scrapping it except for the number 16. Grachan
Why "no" to everything? If he gets a ban and serves it, then there's no reason why he shouldn't be given both. He's one of the best riders in the World and would improve the gate in Australia.

SCB
Surely before he get the permanent wildcard he has to earn it? The Aussie one, whatever, not bother but a whole series and the chance to be World Champion means he should have to earn it IMO. He'll still be suspended anyway, so doesn't matter. Grand Central
In most of the other, rather similar, cases I have seen online it would appear that the rider has been given advance warning of the judgement prior to the public being told via an official FIM Press Release. I wonder if Darcy's rather enigmatic twitter post today would indicate that he has heard something of his fate? A ban extending into this coming season but not the whole year would seem likely, Would it not?

It would - although I'm sure that many of the 'it will take 45 days for a decision' merchants will probably disagree!!

Although the green eyed 'hang him high' mob would still want his head on a pike.

Could do but could also mean Poole have decided to name there team regardless and he still has no idea. i didnt think it was possinle to get a visa for half a season? Thought all applications had to be sponsored for the full season?

Plenty more good ones to watch now and in the future. He has let the fans and his teams down so many times now he needs to work hard to regain peoples respect.

Ghostwalker
Daily Echo reporting a 10 mths ban. Ridiculousy low ban if true. In reality only a 5-6 month ban. Really hope WADA appeals although I think that is pretty unlikely. Edited February 26, 2015 by Ghostwalker
Star Lady
Ridiculous low ban if true. On the face of it I would agree and he should have been treated as others who were guilty of similar offences but we only know what's basically hearsay and conjecture. The FIM heard all the evidence, have passed judgement so I'll settle for that. However I personally don't think he should receive GP wild cards in 2015 with the possible exception of Australia. theflyingkiwi
10 months is pretty lenient as it is backdated to the time of the offence and the majority of that has been spent during the off season. At least he has received a ban though and will hopefully change his behaviour from now on. If not then he has no place in the sport.

All offence sentences start from when a ban was effective in the first case. Technically - like it or lump it - Darcy Ward has been under suspension since the summer of 2014. Ghostwalker
The ruling: http://www.fim-live.com/en/article/cdi-decision-on-darcy-ward/ On 17 August 2014, Mr Darcy Ward underwent an alcohol test at the round of the 2014 FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship held in Daugavpils, Latvia. The test was positive for a level above the threshold specified in the FIM Anti-Doping Code (P.1 Alcohol). On 28 August 2014, the FIM provisionally suspended Mr Ward pending the CDI (International Disciplinary Court)’s decision adjudicating on the merits of the case. Since then, Mr Ward has been provisionally barred from participating in any competition. The case was referred to the CDI and Mr Lars Nilsson of Sweden was appointed by the Director of the International Commission of Judges (CJI) as CDI Single Judge to hear the case.On 19 September 2014, a Request made by the Rider on 3 September 2014 for the lifting of his provisional suspension was denied by the CDI.Mr Ward was heard by the CDI during a Hearing held in a hotel situated near the headquarters of the FIM on 30 January 2015.The CDI has now issued the operative part of its decision in advance of the reasons at the special request of Mr Ward. The CDI found that Mr Ward committed an anti-doping rule violation under the 2014 FIM Anti-Doping Code. The CDI ruled that Mr Ward is sanctionedwith a period of ineligibility of ten (10) months commencing on the date of the decision, 25 February 2015, and that the period of the provisional suspensionalready served by Mr Ward shall be credited against the period of the sanction.Consequently, the period of ineligibility imposed on Mr Ward will end on 27 June 2015 at midnight. Moreover, the CDI ruled that the results obtained by Mr Ward in all the Competitions in which he participatedsubsequent to the positive test, from 17 August 2014 until 27 August 2014, are cancelled, with all resulting consequences, including forfeiture of any points and prizes. An appeal against the decision of the CDI may be lodged by the parties beforethe Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne (Switzerland) within 21 days of the date of receipt of the full reasoned CDI decision.
Guest
Can this thread make another 290-plus pages waffling away about the length of Darcy Ward's sentence? I am certain it will be running at least until early June 2015 now.
