SteveLyric2
Just as a matter of interest, I read in the Star this week that Patrick Dudek is appealing the rest of his ban, having served 6 months!! Thing is Gavan, I base the ban on Dannos and feel if Danno received this length of ban than Ward should and take it like a man instead of a petulant little child which you know he will be if he does get banned, As it seems we are going over old ground again, worth pointing out (again) that Danno's punishment was by SVEMO whilst Ward's is as we know from FIM. pugwash
I've said it before and I'll say it again - A Two Year Ban from the start of the 2015 Season, one of which should be suspended subject to his future behaviour. That's the key word. I think that your judgement is clouded by his alleged previous off track misdemeanours not the fact that he was drinking on the night before a GP and subsequently failed a breath test. He failed the test in late September and was free to be racing again in June 2001. Edit- got my dates wrong first time! waiheke1
Surely how much over the limit he was should be a factor. If I get pulled over and am fractionally over the limit I will get a fine. If I am massively over I will face criminal charges. Plenty of examples on sports disciplinary processes where the same type ofoffence will have different penalties depending on severity. either way a punishment is needed, but I would have thought how far over should be a factor in the "sentencing." Just as a matter of interest, I read in the Star this week that Patrick Dudek is appealing the rest of his ban, having served 6 months!! As it seems we are going over old ground again, worth pointing out (again) that Danno's punishment was by SVEMO whilst Ward's is as we know from FIM. if fim reduced dudeks ban, would wada have the right to appeal this?
The White Knight
I cant stand Matt Ford Middlo is a buffoon. Darcy Ward off the track is basically not a nice person. However all people should be treated the same in the sport wether you are a potential world champion or a national league wobbler the penalties have to be the same. It matters not one bit that Ward is 'talented' 'puts bums on seats' ' ruining his career' It also doesnt matter how over the limit he was. Just because Danno was basically falling over and Ward wasnt is irrelevent. However you people saying 2 years is way to excessive. Darcy Ward should be banned for 12 months. Personally 12 months of racing is what i would say meaning he has 10 months left to serve However if he is banned for 12 months from August to August that would be acceptable If he lines up at the tapes in March it will be a joke. As i said and as you may all know im not a fan of the Poole management and some of there fans on here border on ridiculous But to ban Darcy Ward for 2 years is simply a massive over the top reaction Eeeeeerrrrrrm!!! I think that is what I said Twelve Months - with another Twelve Months suspended. He misses the 2015 Season and comes back to the Tapes at the start of the 2016 Season. As long as he behaves himself within the next Twelve Months he can ride - if he transgresses during that time the suspended Twelve Months will come in to effect and he will be Banned for another Twelve Months. This ensures that he knows, without any doubt, that he must behave himself. So - no - I am not advocating a Two Year Ban as you implied I said - I am trying to make the Sentence fit the Crime and ensure his good behaviour beyond the initial Ban period. I can't see anything wrong with that - can you?

HenryW
if fim reduced dudeks ban, would wada have the right to appeal this?Dudek's ban is from the PZM as it was a domestic meeting in Poland that he was tested at. Their rules allow for this reduction of ban length under certain circumstances so he would be crazy not to apply for it. I have no idea whether WADA have any input into PZM sentencing decisions. Blazeaway
That's what happens when you put 2+2 together, get it wrong, my comment was aimed at the place in general, even some of my Liverpudlian friends agree. As for Hillsborough, it's off topic, the innocent died that day, but I am happy to debate that and Heysel on the football thread. Always the victims, it's never their fault. Offended by everything, ashamed of nothing. YSB.

SteveLyric2
If Poole don't sign him, whether he picks up a further suspension/ban or not, he can't get a work visa for the UK?! Not sure if the new regs for visa sponsorship require a full season's contract?! I would assume they do!

SCB
Someone on twitter just said ISIS hostages get treated better than Darcy has. I have no words. LOL. As for those feeling sorry for Darcy, why? The rules say 45 days, so anything he hears before March 16th is a bonus.

Why, it was Wards boozing that caused this mess, maybe the FIM forced him out kicking and screaming to every bar and drinking hole in Latvia.
