im still stunned that we havent had an answer within the 7 days that Middlo, Darcy, starman, and anybody else that couldnt read expected.

fim are disgraceful

They are!

Bit like the policeman who just wandered in and took Darcy's breath test,Phil just wanders in and takes control of the meeting. All very professional I don't think  I'll have a bit of that myself this season.Print up me own pass and start checking all the bikes with me tool kit :P

I think it's disgraceful that they don't pay Philip either

Can I pitch in for the post of UNOFFICIAL Referee at the GPs.

I'd just do it when Craig Ackroyd nipped out to have a wee.

Perhaps I could be put in charge of the 'unsatisfactory' starts.

THINK or say what you like but it wasn't quite like that. On the two occasions when Ole was ill at the last minute and having been at his side for scores of events I simply fulfilled the basics of his role but it was the FIM Jury President who was formally in charge as I had no official status and no FIM licence.

At King's Lynn the FIM did ask me to deputise for Tony Olsson and I was happy to do so and thoroughly enjoyed it as a one-off.

Well, they never paid me the day I turned up to Daugavpils.

In that Keystone Cop Uniform.

Trying to get riders to blow into my whoopee-cushion balloon.

Thank god that young Australian chap came along.

He was the only one dumb enough to believe it was a breathalyzer.

Apparently that's what all Keystone Cops do these days? :D

UNOFFICIAL assistant Race Director ... not paid either by the FIM or BSI. Deputised as RD a couple of times when Ole Olsen was absent and was officially FIM RD at the King's Lynn round of the SWC last year when Tony Olsson stayed in Sweden. Just one of many trying to ensure everything from practice, pre-meeging parade, scoreboard, semis and final draw, presentation, press conferences run as smoothly as possible.

so you do all of that for free?? Pay own travel and entry?? Hats off :)

Something is seriously wrong though if the speedway world championships dont have a stand in for all scenarios... Not very professional at all surely??

Well well it seems any old tom can get in the pits and take over !! It just beggars belief..

It certainly gives those Polish lawyers something to work with when they get to the court in Geneva.

'I put it to you sir, you were just an UNOFFICIAL Official'

Case Dismissed.

PS

You will wait up to 45 days until the UNOFFICIAL Judge sends out the judgement.

BEEN called a few things in my life but any old tom is a first. Mock away...

Philip i admire you doing the carry on that you do, and im not mocking you, but surely this isnt good enough for a World Championship?? its like the FA cup final ref not turning up and them getting a sunday league ref out the crowd in his place??...that cant be right? This is the biggest event in speedway, in the world.

Its staggering imo.

I thinkits funny that on twitter now both Muddlo and Ward have stopped moaning about the length of time its taking.

is that because:

they have been told to stay off social media

or

they have finally stopped being idiots and realised what everyone else has told them about the 45 days

To be fair to Middlo and Ward the reports after the hearing were that they would be told within a week what the outcome was. Although again that has only been reported via the Ward camp, nothing from the FIM.

Quote from Middlo in last weeks Star "They did say they would give a decision this week"

However, Middlo also says they "could take two months if they want - it's up to them" which suggests numeracy might not be his strongest subject.

NO it's not. I wasn't the referee or the Jury President. I was really just the guy who stood by the pit gate indicating when the next four riders could enter the track. There was no real serious decision making involved. The same with the draw... the referee informs me of the picking order, I call the riders to the scoreboard, line them up in the right order and put the names on the board.

When Ole missed two meetings other FIM officials including the referee and the Jury President stepped into the breach when necessary. I certainly wasn't running or refereeing the meetings in any shape or form.

Yes, at KL, the FIM did appoint me and felt that on this one occasion no one else had as much experience of the role as I did and working alongside the Clerk of the Course, the referee and the Jury President we were more than capable of doing the job.

Of course, if the appointed referee is unavailable a fully fledged replacement is on stand-by but deputising for the RD (who in the event of any official dispute does not have vote on the FIM Jury) is an entirely different matter.

An unpaid multi tasker? :P

Mrs P was asking, do you take in washing and ironing? ;)
