Hopefully a ban will make him think about what he's doing.

phillipsr
Im intrigued at why you think it will make a difference?? If you 100% know your going to be tested no one will drink if there is only a 10% chance then the stupid riders still might go out on the lash

scribbler
"..could 'take a couple of years out' " = could be banned for a couple of years. Self-inflicted stress... if he hadn't drunk alcohol he wouldn't have had an FIM hearing... simples...
weatherwatcher
I think he is quite right what he said in that article. Darcy Ward has been having problems for most of last year with the sport, you could clearly see that he had lost his way, you only had to see that head shaking when he came off the track and sitting in the pits head in hands, I think he has real problems and he needs the right people to talk to him to get his life on track. If he comes back this year, which I doubt because he will get at least 12 months if not the full 2 year ban, he will still not have got his life back on track that is if he ever was in that frame of mind to become a sensible caring person. He needs help, he is a huge talent, that is going to waste, if he dosen't sort his life out he will have a very short passage in the speedway history of a graet rider who just wasted his career
Starman2006
You're missing the point of random testing. Couldn't give a monkeys. Ive said it before a long time ago and you did'nt raise a sqweak. An ALL TEST would sort the men from the boys .Simple as.

An ALL TEST would sort the men from the boys .Simple as. I didn't raise a squeak? I am so sorry Starboy, I don't actually spend all day on the forum looking for your posts. I just happened to see that latest post and comment. Your comment 'simple as' seems to suggest it is a factual accuracy, it isn't it is your opinion. Random testing is far more important to catch people out, as appears to be the case here and across other sports. How often do you read of sportsmen and women suddenly have testers turn up at their door? Frequently! What that does is make sure that sportsmen and women are not using between competition, and in the case of speedway random testing at different meetings across the world should ensure riders remain appropriate throughout the week. If a rider knows he will be test every two weeks at a GP he may use substances between GPs but stay sober for a few days prior to a GP. Random testing is far better to 'catch users out'. A ORLOV
If they do not test all at each GP, they should pick a number at random for the qty to be tested, then numbers again for the individual riders to be tested.
Pirate Nick
Don't see what the problem is with testing them all? 1 breathalyser and 18 tubes, it's hardly a major expense. As far as catching people out goes, surely the idea should be to prevent it before it happens. If they all know they're going to be tested then the odd one won't be tempted to chance it?
