Apologies, I was doing Ward a dis-service, it was indeed Dec 2012 he was arrested for DUI. I thought that incident was the year after he got smacked outside the pub, rather than just a couple of months.

He's did relatively well then in the following 18 months keeping his nose clean.

Didn't he have a little problem with public urination after some celebratory drinks following one of Toruns meetings during that period?

Yeah that is correct Henry, public urination on a statue of Torun's great son Kopernicus.

He and Chris Holder also created a stir up at a private party in a restaurant in Torun.

The NFL approach sounds ridiculously puritanical, but typical of employers in the US who feel they have the right to dictate employee lifestyles. If someone fails drugs/alcohol tests in competition that's one thing, but frankly outrageous that an employer can dictate such things out-of-competition that are not performance enhancing, and I seriously hope that we never see such things in Europe.

That Darcy Ward behaves like an idiot is not in much dispute, but unless his misdeeds happen in the sport, then it's really not any business of the sport, nor is the sport morally obliged to deal with them.

I agree its incredibly draconian, although having worked for US companies, I fear some of these 'bad' habits may start to spread, but not obviously to this extreme.

Josh Gordon has now been suspended for at least a year without pay. His crime. Two beers plus two other drinks on a private jet after his team's season was complete. He was tested because he recently pleaded guilty in court to driving under the influence of alcohol and part of the agreement for his re-instatement from a previous ban (cannabis), was a total ban from alcohol until the entire NFL season was finished . He was fined $100, had his driving licence suspended and received a 60 day suspended sentence for the DUI. A prime reason for pleading guilty was to avoid a 2 game NFL ban (it's complicated due to new NFL disciplinary rules and when they take effect). That decision has come back to haunt him.

He is a big name in the NFL, but his career (and earning potential) is now in tatters. Whilst we don't expect anything as draconian as this in Speedway, it's a sobering (sic) reminder to Ward how close he is to throwing away a stellar career.

Lets not praise him too much for going a whole 18 months without a run in with the law.

Most of us manage to go our entire lives without getting any incidents

Have you not read what Sidney wrote? Has nobody made a mistake in their lives lol

Yes we all have just not on the scale, magnitude and downright illegal stuff that Ward has.

There not mistakes they are continually doing wrong

Mate, if he is given the Green light to ride and he steps out of line just once, he will be bounced from one end of the pit to the other..

What makes you so sure it will be any different THIS time?

Middlo mouthing off again on Twitter... and to this this bloke was once the manager of our national team.

Apparently I have upset some sensitive fans on twitter telling tales on me to the SCB#thatsbrave!

Far be it from me to defend Darcy but come on, what guy hasn't done this after a few drinks :D Even I'm willing to look past this one and see it as a case of, the only mistake he made there was being seen :D

Neils not mouthing off on his Twitter, he's just stating his case and defending whats right. Just some, seem to think its fair game to throw all their toys at Neil on HIS twitter.

His choice of location, a prominent statue on the town square, probably wasn't the most sensible if he didn't want seen ;)

He is allowed to state his case, but what he wrote was unprofessional in my opinion, in fact much of his Twitter comments appear to be unprofessional.

WTF is going on its not a murder trial for gods sake#howlongtheyneed?!!!

Neil Middleditch @middlo57 · Jan 30

No decision till next week !!! What the hell is going on! #fimareajoke

I would categorize that as a form of 'mouthing off' Middleditch is not defending what is right, he is defending a rider who seriously transgressed. As previously stated by many posters here the FIM have followed protocol and they are well within there rights to take up to 45 days to make a decision. If Neil hadn't commented on the situation in the manner that he has done and moaned about common practice then I do not think that he would have received any or as much stick as he has received on twitter. What does he really expect with those hashtags?!

TBF Middlo is not and to my knowledge hasn't ever defended Darcys actions in the GP. He is criticising the FIM for taking too long to deliver a verdict in what should be an open and shut case.

There is no grey area here, you either pass or fail the test. So what's the delay?

IMO the reason for the delay is somebody messed up on the procedural side of the testing and the FIM aren't sure of their ground.

Before anybody has a pop, I think Darcy was a complete idiot to be drinking the night before. I also think he realises he let his team, the fans and himself down, but stringing it out like this is surely unnecessary.

You need to have a look at what the fool has written on Twitter as quite clearly he throws his toys out the pram and has no idea what he is talking about.

and there is my back up. The man is clueless about proceedure and inflames the situation with his daft pathetic hash tags.

The man is a numpty on social media an has a cheek to moan about people who criticise him

But they arent taking to long they are following protocol as they always have done in these sort of cases including the 45 days till a verdict. Nothing is untoward.

Just because we are speedway fans doesnt give the right for Darcys case to be heard any quicker than anyone else.

I do admire the fact you condemn Ward and see he has let Poole down unlike some of the others on here who think he is untouchable

Now I don't believe everything I read on twitter but one tweet that Middlo has retweeted appears to infer (using my words carefully here  ) that he called someone a retard on twitter. Not exactly sure why he felt the need to retweet it but there ya go.

If that is the case Middlo can have absolutely no complaints that he has been reported to the SCB.

You are wrong i believe. This is the normal time frame for this type of event. No quicker or slower than other cases. Why would speedway be any different to others ?
