Why do we have a thread for Darcy Ward on the Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup forum as he is not a GP rider and the World Cup is a team event ?

It won't get much interest, could never see many people posting to such a thread !!!

Yes, anyone would think that's where any alleged offence occurred, rather than on Country, League or Club thread!?! :D

THIS is going to run longer than the Mousetrap... it will certainly be incumbent on the FIM to explain, when this sorry saga eventually reaches its conclusion, why it has all taken so long.

I read about another doping case, a MX rider who got caught with amfetamine during a competition in April, he had his hearing in October which was 6 months from April.

I don't know why it took so long, perhaps it could be due lack of availability of the members of FIMs International Disciplinary Court?

Amfetamine like alcohol is In-Competition forbidden only so I guess that this case and Darcy's case are similar in several ways.

It also seems that the MX rider was a quite a big star being a multiple world super cross champions. It also implies that FIM did

not take any consideration to his "star level" and subsequently suspended the MX rider for 16 months.

The difference between the MX case and Darcy's case seems to be that the MX rider, just like Dudek, could give a reasonable

explanation (aka excuse) to why he had amfetamine in his system while Darcy have nothing to blame.

However amphetamine is arguably performance enhancing, hence why darcy's punishment MAY be lower than this example or dudek.

was it a prescriprltion amphetamine as opposed to a "recreational" variety?

Stewart was using Adderall and his defence was that this use was to treat his ADHD.

After the failed test he applied for and received an exemption that said he was allowed to take the drug and still race. However, as he hadn't applied for this exemption before being tested he was given the ban regardless as he failed to follow the correct procedures.

It does seem harsh, but the guys a professional sportsman and must have realised that an exemption was required.

If he didn't, he sure as feck knows now.

Amphetamines are banned in every sport everywhere on the planet. I'm surprised there's any exemption from using them. Very surprised.

fair point. A basic google of adderall instantly reveals that it contains amphetamine, and as u say any sports person should know that's probibited.

makes u wonder how legit the adderall explanation was tbh.

Thing to remember about Dudek though is he was dealt with by the Polish authorities not the FIM..............in that case if Darcy had been over the limit for one of his league teams does that mean the league in questions governing body would have dealt with it rather than the FIM and would they have taken so long.................

I think the authority that deals with it is the authority that is running the meeting where the offence took place.
