Im very sure he's not the first, and unless they do an all test he won't be the last. Smacks as.

Starry, you're right. All riders inc reserves should be breathtested prior to racing. It can't be a huge or expensive task to carry out.

No reason not to adopt same for all meetings, leagues, testimomials whatever. Don't know if there are any breath tests carried out prior to these events at present.

And I was trying to draw attention to the fact that that doesn't make it right and therefore is a completely irrelevant comment.

Clearly it doesn't make it all right. My point was a that darcy isn't unique in offending and b that attitude towards darcy is different to that of others who have done the same.

I've been pretty consistent in saying I think a 6-12 month ban appropriate.

Sadly im not mostly wrong. Darcy has been a fool, and i really do hope, no sorry, he will learn from this, and i really do hope that he goes on to forfill his potential. I will stick up for any of our riders, but Its in Darcys hands, his destiny is in his own hands. The only person who can help Darcy forfill his potential is, Darcy..

Spot on. I full agree with all you say here.

The sport is certainly a better place without a rider who attempted to ride in a GP whilst over the alcohol limit, surely?

Punish him of course but believe me speedway is a better place with Ward in it no doubt about it.The disgraceful thing is that this has not been dealt with by now touch wood he will be able to resume riding in March. He has to then buckle down and do what he does best ride speedway i want to see the best ride and he is certainly in the top five riders in the world.

I think someone suggested that 138 pages ago!!

(ps random tests are carried out in EL racing - and I presume other leagues too - and presumably everyone has passed otherwise we would have heard about it)

(pps. Darcy has passed when selected at random!)

I listen to what Starman has to say whether he is right or wrong, yourself i don't take you seriously.I can't remember you ever really debating any subject positively, always a dig here and there and go back through your posts there is a massive trend there with Poole speedway.Starman say what you like about him but he is passionate and he does know his speedway as for you there is not alot of evidence that show me that you know yours.

Starman knows his speedway! Go back over any if his posts and see what EVERYONE says. He'll go on the Poole 2015 thread and even Poole fans have had enough of him. If you think that people feel Darcy needs a ban because he rides for Poole just shows your narrow mindedness

Go over my posts Starman and see how many are liked. Go over your posts and there are about 10 people who quite you and mock you including your own supporters on your thread. If you think your posts are taken seriously you are somewhat deluded. People see them for comedy value

Clearly you need to make a visitation to one of our sponsors then. Specsavers... Either that or trim that bloody wig.

It should be at least a year ban it's really that simple. It needs to be a punishment to fit the crime,

When you look at "the crime" does it really warrant a 2 year or even a 12 month ban. Firstly it is not an offence to consume alcohol away from the track and he did not drink at the track. I believe the breath test was done around midday at the completion of the riders briefing and his first heat would have been around 3.30pm. If the test was done just prior to his first heat he would have been under the limit, passed the test and free to ride. So to say he attempted to ride pissed is just ridiculous. I agree the punishment should fit the crime. 6 months is ample for being so stupid.

1.Yes it does.

2.It does not matter where he drank the alcohol, he was over the limit when the test was done and that is all that matters.

3. Again does not matter, he shouldn't have been drinking so much alcohol that it would set him over the limit the next day.

4. Maybe maybe not, but again does not matter. The rules says "during competition" and not "prior to the first heat".

5. It is not.

6. Good, he violated the doping rules, standard suspension length is 2 years: I think it is possible that discount might be handed out

if there is a possibility that the offender might have gotten the illegal substance into his/her system by mistake.

In Darcy's case he was fully aware of what he was drinking so there is no mitigating circumstances in that case.

I thought the standard suspension was up to 2 years, with discretion if it was his first FIM offence - which it was.

Whatever the final punishment - it will be what it will be! But what is wrong, very wrong, is the delay in dealing with the case and stopping all his clubs from making any plans for 2015, when the offence occurred only at one GP!

The delay is in no way stopping his clubs from making any plans for 2015-just sign up a team that ARE DEFINATELY available-simple job done !!
