sommelier
I will be glad when the FIM have dealt with Ward's case in January and hopefully we will see him in the Elite League next year. I watch at least three live meetings a week a minimum of five GP's a year and when I part with my hard earned cash I want to see entertaining riders. I think Ward is an amazing talent and still only 22 I think he has a lot more to come. We have already lost Bridger and if we loss Ward that will be two very entertaining riders. I think if and when Ward does come back into the GP's we will be like a wounded animal!

Gavan
Don't tell this lot on here though. They won't like it... what on earth are you on about??? your posts are just ridiculous. sommelier makes a point that the speedway world will be a bit boring without Ward. He is correct nobody is arguing that so god knows why you have to go on and in and on your are a tad tedious. Ward needs a ban irrelevent of the fact that ' he is entertaining' Do yourself a favour and stop posting on this topic
OveFundinFan
Well, I hope we dont see him ride util later 2015 ie a 12 month ban from the date of the offence, meaning no GP's until he qualifies - no one off wild cards, no wild card entry into 2016. Sure he is an exciting rider, but he must learn to work within the rules, and to stray outside of them means its going to hurt. He probably missed out on a top three world spot this year - tough. He should miss out on the opportunity of it in 2015 - tough. Can only blame himself. And the comments above are from someone who does not support any team - just likes good and fair speedway.

The reality is, your comments are utterly irrelevant. It doesn't matter if he's the most exciting rider in the world, or the most boring. It doesn't matter if he's the best rider in the world or the worst, he will (one hopes) be treated the same and punished accordingly.
Guest
A sensible verdict in the Darcy Ward affair: a one year ban back dated to when he was stopped from racing. The one year suspended for six months suspended, so that he will be available for the start of the 2015 season. So effectively you are saying the 3 months or so he missed is fine? He needs a ban from when the season is on not taking into account the winter months. If he gets a 6 month ban then by all means include the 3 he missed and then the first 3 of the season. Cant get my head around how people think he should be allowed to start the season. Darcy Ward is great to watch and yes he will be missed, but to say he should be allowed to ride because he is entertaining is rubbish

Your premise is based on the Euro season. He could be racing in Oz.
Gavan
A 6 month ban would end 28/2/15 as it would start from the date that he was suspended. which effectively doesnt really punish him does it. Speedway seasons in Europe are March - October. If you are banned for 6 months for an offence in Europe you should not be allowed to ride for 6 months , i.e last 3 months of last season and first 3 months of this. When does the season start? Your premise is based on the Euro season. He could be racing in Oz. read my above point. banned from racing in Europe for 6 months. or banned for 9 months to take in the oz season. either way for what he has done to just miss 3 months of racing is farcical. Stefan Danno missed 8 months IN the european season

I am certain that FIM bans are imposed on a worldwide basis - in this case that would include current seasons in Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia - places where Ward might have raced were he not under his present restrictions presumably? At the moment Darcy Ward cannot race in any country where speedway is taking place which means the ban is currently affecting him. Stefan Danno missed 8 months IN the european season IMO a year ban with 6 months suspended would suffice. He's already lost a substantial sum of money in lost earnings and has lost his GP place for 2 seasons (unless he gets a wildcard for 2016).

The FIM does NOT impose bans on areas of competition. They are INTERNATIONAL and effective from the time they were imposed. There are no FIM bans imposed on an area basis. Darcy Ward has already served time and still is. He cannot ride anywhere in the world. It seems hard to grasp that point but that's how it works. Whether or not Ward planned to race elsewhere during the European area winter in no way comes into the reckoning - if he attempted to race elsewhere this winter he cannot. The premise is that he is available to do so - hence INTERNATIONAL bans from when first imposed. It's not hard fact to comprehend surely? C'mon Starman, what's the matter with you these days, I used to enjoy some of your more light-hearted posts, but these days you do appear to have an issue with anyone who doesn't glorify the 'cheating' all conquering Pirates.. In fairness to Gavan, his points are mostly very fair on this issue....
