weatherwatcher
Quote Thursday, February 26, 2015: Promoter Ford told the Daily Echo: “It’s incredibly frustrating for the decision to have taken so long. If they were always going to pass a continuous ban, it would have made sense to have made it earlier. However, these things happen. “From a Poole perspective, we are very disappointed Darcy won’t be in the team at the start of the season. But we have spoken and his long-term future is clearly with the club. I consider this a small setback but, long term, I think we will all benefit from Darcy longing to ride a speedway bike again.” In other words as soon as his ban is done and dusted some poor sod has to pack up his kitbag to make way for little boy blue. That's the name of the game! It happens in walks of life - not just speedway.
f-s-p
Speedways credibility once more in danger. IF Ward gets to Cardiff. http://www.bt.se/tt-sport/ward-missar-tre-vm-deltavlingar/
stevehone
to me Darcy is the most naturally talented on a bike I've seen since Michael Lee .. I've seen Darcy on speedway, flattrack, minibikes, etc and he just turns his hand to it all so easily. his problem though, is that he still looks like he's just mucking around with his mates when he's riding, I think because he just enjoys riding that much. I'm surprised he got a ban the length it is, I was kind of expecting the suspended time to be the ban with the rest suspended but hit quite hard financially. imagine if Darcy comes back from the ban having changed who he hangs around with, change his influences, and starts REALLY taking things seriously and more professional, would be a hell of a rider.
Triple.H.
His 2014 CMA would go up from 8.55 to 8.99 & his rolling average would be similarly affected. From what I've read on this forum over the years mostly by fans of other teams I thought the only rider with a Rolling average was Craig Cook

June01
Do the FIM actually have any authority to cancel his points scored in the league during those 10 days? Can the BSPA just say as far as they are concerned those two results stand?
Starman2006
to me Darcy is the most naturally talented on a bike I've seen since Michael Lee .. And when Michael Lee put his mind to it what he couldn't do on a speedway bike is not worth talking about.. Darcys exactly the same.
The White Knight
And when Michael Lee put his mind to it what he couldn't do on a speedway bike is not worth talking about.. Darcys exactly the same. Agreed - but - why oh why do they have to go off the rails? I find it all very sad.

Guest
An interesting quote this weekend as made by John Boyd on SpeedwayPlus website: "Darcy Ward "The Grand Prix has moved speedway to another level. He is the best rider I have seen on a speedway bike. I think he will come back stronger after his ban for failing a breath test and if he stays focused he will dominate speedway for the next 10 years." Popular Post oldace
Agreed - but - why oh why do they have to go off the rails? I find it all very sad. Michael, like Darcy, went off the rails largely due to people indulging and condoning his foolishness, although Cyril Crane was nowhere near as bad as Middlo. Like I have said many times in the past, Darcy didn't need Middlo to be his friend, he needed him to be a mentor/manager and bring him down a peg or two when his antics got out of hand. Sadly though Neil seemed happy to accept each more serious misdemeanour's as they came along and make excuses for them rather than condemn. To a young lad in his teens it must have seemed to Darcy that he was untouchable, no matter what I do I can get away with kind of thinking I imagine, under a promoter/manager like Major Fearnley or the CO or even in modern times maybe Pete Adams then Darcy may well have had a world title or two under his belt by now. For Lee his going off the rails spelt the end of what could have been a glittering career but it still isn't too late for Darcy. If he gets rid of the apologists who want to worship his every move and surrounds himself with the right people he could recover from this and still go on to achieve big things in the sport. it is a big IF though

Isn't always the case that the people blessed with all the talent are the ones who seem least well equipped to deal with , just look at people like George Best or Alex Higgins and a few more that we could mention across may walks of life

What a pointless load of waffle - just "Posts for the sake of a Post", no more than that IMO. Edited March 1, 2015 by Guest

refereerick
Isn't always the case that the people blessed with all the talent are the ones who seem least well equipped to deal with , just look at people like George Best or Alex Higgins and a few more that we could mention across may walks of life I think this because they don't need to work to get to the top. For example, when as child you get given gifts you take for granted they are always going to be there and you don't really look after them as much as when you finally go to work you realise how much effort you need to put in to get your new toy, be it a car, house etc, and therefore you tend to look after it better as you know how much effort you need to put in to replace it. Its like this with the most talented sportsmen, be it George Best, Alex Higgins, Micheal Lee or Darcy. Where you get riders like say Nicki Pedersen who is not the most naturally gifted rider ever but has made up for that with hard work and determination, he obviously knows how much hard work it has taken to get him to the top and how much it takes to stay there. Its the same with people with money that has come easy. How many footballers and musicians etc do you see who have gone bankrupt after making millions in their short careers, and then wasted it spending at the same rate as they did when they were earning top dollar. If you or I suddenly came into money we would look after it as we would know we would never get the chance to get that sort of windfall again.
