First rule of journalism ... never let the facts get in the way of a good story. Only joking ...

It is not unheard of for a policeman to carry out alcohol tests at SGP events but aways in the presence of FIM officials.

It is a matter of semantics, for example, who 'carries out the test' if a policeman provides the breathalyser kit and holds it to the rider's mouth under the supervision of the FIM doctor. Is it the policeman or the doctor?

Just about the right timescale IMO.

Good to see that the procedures were sound and correctly followed after all.

Lets hope we dont see another thread like this again!

Semantics!

I think I've wandered into a Wittgenstein symposium.

10 months it is.. They have their reasons for the length, I would have hoped it was longer, but hey ho.

So we can all move on now and enjoy our season................

Until the next time :)

PS. Yerropes, today the pic is of Middlo thanking god it wasn't longer ;)

Darcy's response on twitter to the FIM tweet detailing the ban!! People seriously saying hes learnt his lesson!!

@D_Dublu_racing: @FIM_live don't tag me in this !! #notfriends

TBF, I found that funny :D

It might be funny, but in most other professional sports it would result in a further ban.

You have seen this at the bottpm of the FIM statement? An appeal against the decision of the CDI may be lodged by the parties before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne (Switzerland) within 21 days of the date of receipt of the full reasoned CDI decision.

I meant lets hope he does not decide to take up the chance of an appeal

Yes it could've been longer but 10 months it is, the most important thing now is for Ward to learn, he has all the talent in the World but has been let down by the six inches between his ears. Also it might be an idea for him to surround himself with a few people that will give him better advice.

He'd be daft if he did. He got a pretty short ban and can be back in action by June so what's the point. And it could be increased.

Poor old Peter Oakes.

Writing a load of old bunkum in The Daily Star.

And no one told him.

If its in the Daily Star will anyone notice any difference ? most of what's in that "newspaper " is a load tosh anyway

I think I have been extremely consistent and even-handed in expressing the total contempt I have had for the standard of journalism throughout this entire episode.

Few if any of them come out of this with any professional integrity intact.

They have served the sport poorly.

And despite being, almost universally, in 'the Ward camp'.

None of them did him any favours either.

Lets ASSUME Darcy gets his suspension turned into a ban.... a 12 month riding ban dated back to the date he was suspended, meaning he can ride again toward the end of 2015, if he wants to.

1) Should he be given the Wild Card no 16 jacket for the 2015 Australian GP

.........................................................................................................................

2) Should he be given one of the four permanent 2016 GP Wild Cards?

What do you think?

yes to both imho
