brits? There were only two brits in the meeting and I understand tai doesn't drink? Were tai and bomber really both drinking heavily before that gp?

I"m not talking only about last few years and GP"s. Once went a GB rider we meet after the race in local club with us to friend vine celery. We carry him at 8am to hotel, where his mechanic was waiting, they were in a hurry to catch a plane back to England, because he had race same day afternoon.

I don"t understand why people like to crucifix Ward. He did mistake, get got ban and thats it and lets move on.

I live in Krško and I saw many of the riders who were really drunk on evening-early morning before the race and some of them even so that they can"t walk! Yes and there were Brits among them too!

And the next day they were drinking liters of redbulls to keep them alive. Were they not threat for safety of other riders?

Looks like every country has there own version of Starman who makes things up as they go along.

Nobody is crucifying Ward.

AS someone who attends most of the GPs including those in Slovenia I honestly don't think that is the case

Im not quite sure what disturbs me most about this post,

-the possibility it could be true and that professional riders are taking to the track regularly intoxicated (seems a bit beyond belief to me),

-that other riders know of this and dont do anything about it (I cant believe they are happy to be on powerful bikes in bursts of racing that require precision and quick reaction alongside people whose judgement is impaired and who could as a result cost them their life either by inflicting living death or actual death) or

-that the poster actually implies this is the norm and acceptable in Polish speedway

I"m not lying and I have no reasons to lie. I"m not the only witness. Ask at the bar next time.

My point was the leagues are even more dangerous than GP. And the some riders know that there is no control at invitation races like Golden sign.

Your concerns are reasonable.

But as Krsko is in Slovenia the point about Polish Speedway is a little off target.

What I find disturbing is the depths to which posters are stooping to defend Darcy.

It is not in the lads interest at all.

Only rational argument in the tribunal by his Legal team will assist him now.

Public expressions of grotesque sycophancy; or tales that include exaggeration, untruth and fantasy will never aid him in his case.

It just reduces the poster to the level of idiocy.

And ultimately Darcy gets tarnished even more.

The fact that it's libellous?

Strangely there is a ruling that if it is posted on the internet it is slander rather than libel. I thin kin this case - or rather I hope in this case - that its actually spelt b-o-l-l-o-x

Thanks GC - proof that my geography is shocking! Don't know why I thought Krsko was Poland, it doesnt even look Polish. Apologies to Polish speedway!

I fully concur btw with the rest of your post and its now at the stage that neither side are doing him any favours

This is a point I made earlier.

In Major League Baseball a very high profile player, Ryan Braun, managed to get off a failed drugs test on a technicality.,

It wasn't long before MLB caught up with him though (and others).

Ward would have to keep his nose squeakily clean as he would be a marked man.

And that is something he has proved he cannot DO !!!!

The 'Let Darcy Ward ride speedway" campaign now has 4,338 likes.

:o

Regarding riders drinking after and before meetings, all I can say is in 2013 I was staying at the same hotel as Somerset riders, Workington, Newcastle meetings. I can tell you know from the horses mouth that there was a number of the Somerset riders partying until the early hours of the morning. I love a drink, its my job as you can probably guess by my user name! But could I keep up with these guys, not a chance!

Why would him getting a ban be akin to 'crucifying him'?

Feel free to remind me, as him getting a ban would have no relevance.

He deserves a ban for his irresponsible actions. Nothing more, nothing less.

Perhaps I am a bit naive then.

I have been fortunate enough to know a few riders to speak to off track, all of whom like a good drink and could easily drink most under the table but all of whom were equally strict that it didnt happen within 48 hours of racing and that they wouldnt want to be out on track with someone who did. I kinda wanted to believe that was a majority feeling but obviously from what you say it cant be :(
