orderly
According to Twitter there are "some legal concerns". No idea what they are. Could be that the authorities could also look to remove his international driving permit if he is well over the limit???????????????????
OveFundinFan
With a few gp riders injured/doubtful to ride on Saturday at Gorzow I reckon Darcy will be allowed to ride - just to keep the numbers up together with the quality of those numbers. Then, as someone suggested, strip him of those points at the end of the year. Could be that the authorities could also look to remove his international driving permit if he is well over the limit??????????????????? Do you mean "driving permit" as in driving licence? If so, to do what you suggest I would think would be very strange - was he driving a vehicle on the public highway when he was tested? oldace
He just couldn't consistently go great guns, fire himself to the front and create super speedway. 1990 - Trevor O'Brien. Well, I liked him..... Depends on your criteria I guess. Most fun I'd had since the legendary Pete Wigley. As for 1994, was there a speedway season? Sadly passed away earlier this year

The thing is though that Darcy doesn't have any license to loose since he already lost it (a two year disqualification) after the incident in Australia.
Star Lady
Is it a monster firm of lawyers?
PHILIPRISING
SPOKE to FIM this morning and Ward's case is still in the hands of the lawyers who will determine the correct procedure going forward. No indication of how long that will take ... probably no telling with lawyers involved.
waiheke1
What are the issues? Did ward have a blood test or only breath tests, and if the latter is that grounds to appeal any ban (I know in nz, for a drink drive offence a blood test is required, and breath test only sufficient if the offender refuses the blood test)? I also note that it sppears shawn moran failed an alcohol test at an fim longtrack event in 89, and copped a ban from FIM events only for the rest of that season (still rode bl). Triple.H.
If lawyers are involved and getting a small fortune to read and send emails Darcy might have retired by the time they make a decision
Fromafar
looks like Darcy is playing another get out of jail card,he must have a pack of them.

PHILIPRISING
looks like Darcy is playing another get out of jail card,he must have a pack of them. NOTHING to suggest that it is Darcy causing the delay... What are the issues? AS far as I know only had breath tests in Daugavpils. Quite often these tests at GP events are handled by the police. Think it was the doctor in Latvia. Possible that they may also have taken a blood sample.

PHILIPRISING
THINK it is the FIM causing That's because HE is not a lawyer then,he has just taken their advice. MAYBE he has taken legal advice, would be foolish not to, but the delay is in Geneva. Who knows, perhaps there are problems with the actual testing, was the correct procedure adhered to, was the equipment properly calibrated, did the Jury handled the matter according to the regulations and so on.

Like I said the get out of jail card again.Never pleaded innocent when interviewed on the day.Its just a case of every trick in the book to get out of it.
Wackie
So it is possible that although Ward was over the legal limit for racing and pretty much confessed to being so, he could get off further punishment on a technicality! Whatever the outcome, I think this incident shows that there needs to be more visible anti-doping testing (not just breathalisers) across the board in speedway especially at domestic events. Out of interest,do the FIM still test the 3 podium finishers at each GP too?
StevePark
It's turning into another farce - that'll be Speedway and farce in the same sentence...... Who'd have thought it??

SCB
So Monster/BSI would not want Darcy banned so they'll get him off on a technicality by messing up the testing. Brilliant! Surely they don't need the tests anyway, he's admitted it.
Jacques
Just looking at it chronologically and trying to work out what the " technicalities" might be, who actually administer the breath test? SPOKE to FIM this morning and Ward's case is still in the hands of the lawyers who will determine the correct procedure going forward. No indication of how long that will take ... probably no telling with lawyers involved. Surely a precedent has been set? Didn't Wackie mention a similar incident with a grass track rider earlier this year?

Surely they don't need the tests anyway, he's admitted it. He admitted to having drink the night before and fsiling the test. That's not necessarily a confession of actually being over the limit if there was something wrong with the tesr.Doesnt darcy (allegedly) like to take videos when he drinks, maybe there is some footage on his phone that might prove how much he did/didn't drink?
