stevebrum
Said before he had turned a wheel that signing Jensen was a big mistake. For a GP winner his performance at Eastbourne was poor and last night woeful. He gives the side a better balance but he has no real interest in the EL. He wont put himself out unless it suits him. brandonbee48
Just watched 8 heats of Swedish speedway, supposedly the best league in the world, not one pass after second bend very boring, give me last night anytime!! You actually watched 7 heats which is when the rain came down and finally washed it out. They did an amazing job just to get it on after torrential rain in Eskilstuna . Whether the racing would have improved as the track dried out we will never know. The difference was that this was a proper speedway meeting in front of a good crowd whereas Monday night at Brandon was "Amateur Night At The Rubbish Tip". with the officials and riders almost outnumbering spectators. Unlike the UK the Swedes do publish their attendance figures. And this was a televised meeting on a bad weather night. It may not be perfect but Swedish speedway is in a lot better shape than the UK- and I don't get any pleasure out of saying that, as I watch the Elite League disintegrating. Regards. Alan. http://www.svemo.se/sv/Grenar/Speedway/Elitserien2014/Matchresultat/ .

Gemini
Even though I can get Eurosport I don't bother watching the Swedish matches as they're usually boring. So much for having a load of top stars in the teams. Have to agree Monday night was definitely not boring - more strange and interesting. At least some of the riders gave it a go but the usual moaner who doesn't like riding on wet tracks and now presumably doesn't like deep dry tracks either, just didn't bother. (Follow the cryptic clues on another thread.) It was worth the admission to see Chris Harris race and I sat with two very nice men all night so what more could I ask for.

On a heavy track like that you weren't going to get nail biting racing but there was enough to make it interesting. Just the fact that one team needed to win by 12 points to make the play-offs. In 66 years of watching I have never seen a meeting with more than 3 or 4 close races. The majority "From The Gate" but still enough to enjoy. I never find any speedway boring and as for the riders not busting a gut to race. Come on! .I don't think you really mean that do you? I admire every one who gets on a bike to entertain us. I read a lot of "requiems" for the Elite league and if all people can find to criticise Swedish speedway for is being "boring" the Swedes will just smile and get on with it. Lots of other activities for those above to do on a Tuesday evening including yourself if it's that bad. Regards. Alan.

Two things in reply point 1 Alan I think you are being unfair calling it a rubbish tip as most people have accepted the problem with the track surface was heavy rain on Friday /match cancelled /Sat 16 stock car /banger races /Sunday limited time on track Dogs 6 pm start /Monday very heavy but localised rain at 3.30 pm then a very late call to rip the track at 6.30 which then started to dry the track also not leaving time to water before start time /national anthem played at 7.30 but first race not out on track till 7.55 point 2 what the hell happened with the red light/flag failure in the tues swedish match could have been a very bad injury to Berntzon I don,t think I have ever seen a rider not react to both emergency warnings as bad as Przedpelski did Edited August 20, 2014 by FTM
brandonbee48
What happened in the end of the swedish meeting as it just went off air again It was abandoned after 7 heats due to 2 more downpours. Smederna are in the play offs. Google translation (somewhat) Speedway, Norrköping Tonight NT could reveal that the wolves leave WO towards smiths. The reason is all about the club's strained finances. The battle to decide which team would get the playoff run was stopped after seven heats in Eskilstuna. As the leading blacksmiths at home against Wolves with 24-18 when the rain came and put a stop to all the possibilities to determine the duel on Tuesday. The teams sat in long meetings before agreed a new date. The match would be run on Wednesday instead. Now it's not that either. It is the club's already stretched finances behind the decision. - The board has been in session now, and decided to leave, we will walk over to the game. The main reason is the short time that it gets to a playoff game when we lose more time. We do not feel we have time to sell it properly and dare not risk anything with the season we had behind us with too little income and more rain matches already, says Johan overpriced. He left the dramatic announcement to the NT port shortly after midnight. - It's obviously very sad to have to take such a decision, but we feel we must do it. It is particularly sad at the drivers who are so keen to this, and to get a playoff run. Thus ends Wednesday's match, according SVEMO regulations 45-0 to smiths who can thus look forward to a playoff game as Wolves thus miss now. For the fifth consecutive season. - There's this news I can give right now, we have been told that the meeting this evening about the situation that has become. Can it get more dramatic decisions in the future, as to request a sit down in the headlines because of the economy? - No, there should not be any danger. Now we leisurely start working for next season. We have had good control on spending this year, but failed on the revenue side. Smederna awarded a walkover. Teams being awarded walk over results and making the play-offs as a result. After last season Polish Play Off final farce surely we can all agree that all 3 major leagues are capable of proving to us time and again they can mess up. And lets not forget the farce in the GPs on the weekend!

When I came over last year, my friend and I , who both were regulars in the 1950s couldn't believe the ramshackle state of the place. Pieces of tin hanging off the back straight stand, weeds overwhelming the crumbling concrete on the terraces. It was really sad to see it being allowed to deteriorate. I know the reasons no one will put any money into it . I wish I were a billionaire ! As for the red flag incident. I had never seen anything like it. I described Prezedpelski as being "asleep at the wheel" at the time. Thank goodness Berntzon wasn't hurt. Both great prospects by the way. If Smederna can get Grigori Laguta back on a bike they might cause an upset in the playoffs. I wish that people could take an honest look at the state of the Elite League. Too often I see words typed to the accompaniment of "Land Of Hope and Glory" that tell us things aren't good in other countries whilst burying their heads in the sand. . Poland and Sweden are the dominant powers in League speedway with crowds that far exceed the UK. They have to be doing something right. Regards. Alan. Bit of a fiasco then? Unlike the entertainment at Brandon on Monday! The fiasco on Monday took place on the track in front of a TV audience.
Star Lady
The fiasco on Monday took place on the track in front of a TV audience. So Sweden are better cos they wash their dirty washing in private. Simply putting another view Personally I haven't seen a Swedish TV match this year that has held my interest. Now that could be a combination of too many unknown riders (to me), indifferent racing for the most part, far too many unexplained delays or the Ermolenko effect. I've also not seen that many EL matches that have held my interest but I know the riders, can relate to the tracks and Kelv and NP do make sense at times. Both Sweden and GB probably have their good points IMHO one is not better than the other. They are both 4 riders going round a track.
