Rye House 2015

Most riders look fantastic when they are riding by themselves. When he is racing alongside 3 other riders then is the time to judge.

No ones seen me then on a bike, on the track on my own. Utter utter rubbish,

RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE:::

:::::::::

Rockets Ready to Fly!
The long wait is finally over. The 2015 Speedway season roars into life at Rye House Stadium this Saturday as the Restart Rockets burn down the night against Ipswich in the League Cup.
It is the start of a new era at the Hertfordshire raceway, with a new club and stadium owner in Warren Scott, a former British Superbike Championship rider and the head of the BMR Racing British Touring Car Championship team.
Supporters will see immediate evidence of the scale of improvements being made to the stadium’s facilities when they arrive, with the building work in full flow, and the Restart Rockets are determined to match that effort with the team they put out on track in 2015. Former World Cup Lion Edward Kennett, Steve Boxall and 2014 Testimonial man Luke Bowen are back from last year’s squad. Anders Mellgren and Kasper Lykke are also well known to Hertfordshire supporters, with Mellgren now fully fit and raring to go again following last season’s injury and Lykke having impressed in a loan deal with Glasgow last term.
The other two faces are totally new ones. Solid-scoring Swede Robin Aspegren has signed for the Rockets after previously representing Newport and Berwick, while young Dane Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen is an altogether new proposition. While admittedly unknown in this country, the 21 year old arrives with a rich international pedigree, however - one that includes a place in the last three World U-21 Finals no less! Many eyes will be focused on him as he bids to convert that enviable record into Premier League points for the Restart Rockets.
They were certainly focused on him when he took to the track yesterday as part of the team’s official Press and Practice Day. Co-promoter Len Silver enthused afterwards over the Dane’s display and general riding style, adding about the side as a whole that “I get the feeling that there will be some quiet competition within this 2015 Rockets team, which can only be a good thing. They are definitely going to pull each other along.”
Returning team captain Edward Kennett shares that optimism. “I’m really happy with the team we’ve put together, and with the new boys coming in. The rest of us can improve too, which is the key to success.
“We’re excited about Warren and BMR coming in too. You can see the new investment they are putting in, and with Len still doing the main Speedway for the Rockets it’s the perfect combination.”
The Rockets’ potential will be quickly tested on Saturday as they go straight into official competition against arch-rivals Ipswich. They already have a point to prove against the Suffolk side, which completed a four match sweep in the teams’ Premier League head-to-heads last season before going on to reach the play-offs after a third placed finish and also make the Knock-Out Cup Final.

The Witches are determined to fly even higher in 2015, naming World Cup Lion Danny King as their new No.1 and also adding Nico Covatti - who finished 5th in the Grand Prix Challenge - to their ranks. Brief Rocket and double British U-19 Champion Stefan Nielsen is their third new face, while the rest of their side has a more familiar look, with World U-21 Finalist Gino Manzares, the club’s rider of the year Rohan Tungate, Cameron Heeps and two year Rye star Ritchie Hawkins all retained from 2014.
It’s a strong looking line-up, but Kennett is very much focused on the Restart Rockets’ new future, and to clearing the first hurdle that the Witches represent. “Last season was a difficult one, with everything going downhill after such a bright start with that opening night away victory at Peterborough.
“But we’ve forgotten about it now - it’s over. This is a fresh start. I am sure all the boys will do well. We want to start winning as early as we can to build up that early momentum.”
The 2015 season at Rye House gets underway on Saturday at 7pm sharp.
Admission: Adults £16.00, Seniors £14.00, Children (aged 12-16) £5.00, with Children under 12 FREE.

Can not wait for tapes up now.

So glad after my little trips up to Rye house last year to have somewhere to go and watch speedway live again after Readings demise long ago. Really looking forward to seeing Jakobsen in action and what the new owners have done with the stadium.

You're not gonna like the way it looks at the moment, like a building site. It'll start to take shape by mid season.

Exciting times ahead

Well to be honest with Smallmead gone, I'd happily watch speedway in an open field these days so watching on a building site wont dampen my enjoyment

You'd enjoy Buxton

A decent sized crowd will certainly create an "Intimate Atmosphere" in the currently available space. :t:

Expecting plenty of Ipswich fans

OK thanks.

Back straight might be a bit far to carry the new 5* gourmet fish and chips though especially if we have to clamber over a building site.

was speaking to Wendy last week who runs the Rye House fish shop and she tells me that the chips will remain to be of the frozen variety rather than fresh chipped potatoes and frozen fish fillets due to the fear of rains offs ... ;)

You cannot blame the promotion for that ... but alas disappointing from a fish and chip purists point of view! :o
