Rye House 2015

Recommended Posts

we use to have the dogs but didn't the promoters of that fall out with Hazel and Len and it all went ** up?....maybe a return of the dogs?....track doesn't seem big enough for cars.

I think the dogs are like speedway, in decline. The new owners are Motorsport people, so who knows.

They had some form of motor racing while Rye was closed to speedway between 1994 & 2000. In the early days, before Len Silver purchased the stadium, they had to lay and take up the shale before and after every speedway meeting Edited by Shads

spedeworth ran stock car and banger racing at rye in the non speedway years. The lift and lay track of 2000 was a bit on the narrow side!

I think I'm right in saying the floodlights are being moved onto the greyhound track in some areas to light the track better due to the air fence. If so that rules dogs out.

Other than bangers I can't think of much else that could be done with the stadium without major work being carried out.

If it is stocks then I give the speedway two years at most

I doubt very much if stock cars are considered for a return at least under the Spedeworth banner. Their drivers used to complain about problems getting good access when towing race cars to the stadium - and I don't think the previous parting between Spedeworth and Len Silver was amicable (was it?).

Len Silver is no longer the owner of the stadium

well heres a thought, Lewis Bridger to ride for the Rockets.

In place of who?

£2.50

This is the South East. Property prices are sky high. In your part of the country £2.50 is about right Edited by Shads

Noticed that the News Item on the Rye House Website regarding the Stadium improvements has been taken down. Hope that doesn't mean they have run into problems.

I think all the AP Media websites have lost a few news stories - probably all been restored from a slightly out dated back up.

I don't know why people are getting worried about the stadium developments . There will be plenty of places to watch the action from until the works are completed. It's not as if they'll be putting the "stadium full" signs up
