Newcastle Vs Peterborough (p L) 85th Anniversary Meeting Sun 7th Sept

Recommended Posts

Little info has come out so far re our 85th birthday meeting.

Newcastle speedway is now one of just a handful of currently operating tracks that started as far back as 1929.

I am a bit puzzled as to why this 85th anniversary meeting is taking place in September as our first meeting was 17th May 1929.

Never mind the correct anniversary date I am pleased that we are celebrating the 85th year. If anyone is interested in the history of North East speedway please check out my website www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk

Details of this meeting have now been published in this weeks Speedway Star.

To celebrate the 85th anniversary of Speedway at Brough Park, we have a PL meeting against Peterborough, followed by a series of races with Danny King, Rene Bach, Robbo and Richie Worrall competing against each other. At the end of the races, the rider with the most points will be crowned King of Diamonds. In between the races there will be other races with veterans on vintage bikes.

And it is all for only £8.50 admission for adults and concessions, while accompanied children(upto and including age 16 )go free.:shock:

BTW there will be a FREE Face Painter available before the meeting, provided by the Supporters Club. :t:

Let's hope Rene gets through the meeting at Glasgow OK (and gets down from Glasgow in time).
