Bandits V Rebels Sat 16/8/14

Recommended Posts

Very impressive performance from Berwick, giving the weakness of the Berwick team I`m sure Somerset were targeting last night as an away win but with Steen Jensen leading the way a point was all they could muster. Jensen was quite amazing, picking himself off the deck twice to record a near faultless maximum, what is even more of a surprise is that there is a chance he could be one of our reserves when the averages change.

That was some effort by the Bandits tonight!!

There's a great team spirit there, seems we have finally got it right on track and how

I expect a harder contest when Rye House come calling especially with my favourite Jason Bunyan at reserve

You're joking surely?

Most of the team have given up, some don't wanna be there. Bandits will hit 60, no problem

The form Berwick are in at home, things could get quite messy for Rye House next Saturday, though there`s every chance they will get their own back round their own track next Sunday.

I'm in the almost unique position of seeing the Bandits & Rockets home and away recently. I can tell you now that the Bandits will take 3 points at Rye next Sunday, perhaps all 4.

If Rye lose to Berwick on Sunday that's probably me done for the season

I know my other half has already posted but I'm in a position where I know as much as him. The way Rye are at the minute, we should be very disappointed if we come away with nothing. Our record in the past says different but Rye is not a happy place for the home team at the minute.

A great result for the Bandits last night I especially when you take in to consideration the riders we where missing , Jensen was in fantastic form and seamed to be revealing in the conditions , it's an interesting thought that he may return to reserve when the new averages come into affect . I thought that Somersett where probably worthy of their point and maybe if Charles Wright hadn't of be so awful they might have pushed us harder .

I wouldn't be so confident of a big away win depends if our guys can get to grips with the tight tack at Rye , if we start the meeting well and can get in front early doors then we might just be able to hold on , personally I'll take any kind of away win Edited by DSC67

Any kind of point at Rye House would be an achievement, our record there isn't exactly great, though it seems these are troubled times at Hoddesdon so if we are ever going to get points next Sunday seems a good time to start.

If you don't win now you never will

What was the crowd level compared to the Sky Match? It was certainly a backs to the wall win for the Bandits especially when Jorgensen had to withdraw from the meeting as well .

Less than Tuesday put it that way, so the stampede to Shielfield after Riga was called off didn't happen though I hear the stampede from Riga to Daugavpils is proving to be quite entertaining, The Latvian GP wasn't the only meeting rained off. Matek Kus`s Czech Pairs meeting was off to, Kus did try to get back to Berwick yesterday but with him in Czech, his van at Luton it was a non-starter. Whether Matej will be called up again should last nights meeting be re-arranged isn't knowing.

Its been mentioned on another thread that Vissing & Kus might be missing for Friday`s trip to Edinburgh.

It was a good meeting, and I think we did well to get the win.

Somerset are very strong, Olly Allen was good value as always, along with Steen.

All our other home riders did their part, Alex rode a couple of very hard 2nd bends to get his points, and Doolan sticking in some good performances.

For Somerset meeting on a very cold night, it was a decent turnout, and I happened to bump into a family who I was surprised to see.

First time they had come, loved it and are coming back next weekend.

Just what we need new faces adding to the fanbase: and no, I didn't invite them, before I get an smarmy comments about bringing friends along.

It was noticeable that there was quite a number of you fans getting mentioned on the Bandit line, whether they were here on holiday or actually from the area I wouldn't know, but hopefully once they see speedway live they will come back many times.

I think the coverage on Sky 2 years in a row, getting international meetings, a big effort to promote throughout the area, and a season where we are challenging for the league has put the club consistently in view. I also notice a lot of folk bringing along a mate who is new to the sport.

This is having the effect of people either coming along to try it out, or people deciding to come back after a few years.

Everyone I've talked to that have came along really enjoyed the night and will come back.

Next Saturday's meeting with the double-header has got a few folk I know fancying a night out at the skidding.

Great, and hopefully it keeps going.

NICE TO SEE THE NEW HOLLAND FLAGS WERE UP, THAT MUST SURELY HAVE PLEASED SOME.

For some the highlight of the night was winning the meeting, for some would've been the performance of Steen Jensen, for others maybe the pies or the burgers, but for this soldier it was undoubtedly the New Holland flags, how magnificent were they. Sadly the trolley doing the lines, and not so sadly the pipe band was missing, but hopefully not forgotten about, I suppose there`s only so much excitement you can take in one night.

Sarcasm met with sarcasm. ;)

Of course, but - as always - you shy away from the factual bit of the discussion, given half a chance.

What do you think about all the new faces that were there last night?

It was quite marked, and encouraging.
