BuxtonTiger
Looking at Kent's win tonight I note R/R scored 11+1 and helped Kent to 69 points. From the updates it would appear that in a lot of heats the quality of racing was not good. Would tonight not have been the perfect chance to give the number 8 all the four rides. I am sure that the result would not have been affected, indeed the racing may have improved and Uncle Len may have saved a few bob on points money. scribbler
Just said something similar in the Kent v Scunthorpe thread... Sheppard would have had the experience of riding with experienced riders against riders of a similar experience to his own. Kent would then have had some idea as to what he was like as a rider. A missed opportunity for both club and rider.
Jonny the spud
Imagine being the rider. Kitted up in the pits. Watching your team walk away with the match and thinking " I'll get the nod in a minute " What were they thinking ?? How to demoralize a young rider in one fell swoop
scribbler
From what I gather he rode poorly after the meeting. He may well be lost to speedway in the very near future if he's treated so poorly by the management. He must have felt, as you said, totally demoralised... Surely at Kent Kings supporters pay to see the best available riders not a training session? There are leagues and trainee matches where Adam Sheppard has plenty of opportunity to "hone his skills." SCB
Surely at Kent Kings supporters pay to see the best available riders not a training session? There are leagues and trainee matches where Adam Sheppard has plenty of opportunity to "hone his skills." The people arguing he should have got a ride are the first to come out and scream at people when they say the NL is a training league with wobblers. Seems they're now advocating this. I'm with you, the league is meant to be a semi-pro league now - so we're told. So it should be treated as such. Saying that, look at the EL and FTD reserves - riders in there to learn, not because they're good enough.
waco
He would not get in Scunthorpes team ,,,,, He was a distance behind another second halfer and then gave up. did not come out again for further opportunities to impress,, you cant put riders in teams with that attitude and his attitude on his website will get him nowhere ... Oh dear we cant have that , lets start a campaign to get John Sampford to drop Danny Ayres next week and give Shepperd his place , The lad turns up every week to his local track . gets in free and if time allows gets some track time after , but if he's going to walk away it's probably best to demoralise someone who IS a prospect because they can always get rides elsewhere ,
