Newcastle Vs Edinburgh Sunday 17th August (7pm Start)

Recommended Posts

The race that was stopped was on the second lap so there was no expectations of an awarded result, despite what Monarch fans wanted.

Just to quote the actual rules:

"15.5.2 If the Referee stops a Race and the leading Rider has completed a minimum of 2 laps of the Heat, then the Referee has the sole discretion to order a re-run or award the Heat based upon the Rider’s positions when the Heat was caused to be stopped"

So it seems that if certain fans want to berate the referee then they should actually be in a position of knowledge prior to passing comment. Or to put another way, those who reside in vitreous constructions, should refrain from the hurling of heavy projectiles.

Well Stevie worrall and lewis Kerr had definitely completed 2 laps when the race was stopped even though the incident happened on the 2nd lap. IMO Stevie was well clear and in the conditions there is no way he would have been passed. It is the refs discretion but should have been awarded in this instance.

I totally disagree, the rules should definitely be changed as you surely should not be able to gain an advantage by your rider causing a stoppage and then awarding a race, you could end up having riders falling off all the time when their partner is in front if only need a 3-3!!

For a race to be awarded, I thought ALL riders must have completed at least 2?!

I've quoted directly from the regulations - feel free to post something different from the Speedway regulations that backs your point.

Accept my greatest of Apologies for not bothering reading up to your point... that will learn me for next time!

But we didn't gain an advantage. That is why it is the referees discretion, if the ref thinks a rider is intentionally trying to get a race stopped and awarded he reruns. Still not 100% sure how deek thought he would control the move but he definitely wasn't trying to get the race stopped as Stevie was ahead.

Some you get some you don't it just added to the frustration of the night not coming away with a win. If they had run ht15 I am quite confident we would have won the meeting. Cannot really argue with the decision to abandon it though and as cookie says on the monarchs site it probably should have been called off after ht12.

yep... dam that rule book

If you can't hit somebody over the head with a rulebook then I despair for this world :)

Especially when the Speedway rulebook is such a good one for pulling obscure, pointless and mind numbingly inane rules out of it to prove your point. This is especially satsifying against the Jocks.

Do Berwick count as Jocks or not? Are you getting a vote for the Scottish independence?

I would agree with that.

Berwick is just on the ENGLISH side of the border. .. personally, I class myself as anything but Scottish... born in Ashington and never lived over the border at any point of my life!

Next attempt to try and take the piss?!
