E I Addio
Mikkel Bech has injured his wrist mountain biking and apparently will be out for the next 6 matches. Add to that his Danish Championship rounds and we'll hardly be seeing him again this season, plus Kim Nillsson will also miss one meeting for the Swedish championship. , Danny King fills in for Bech in one match while Rory Schlein , who now seems to ride for Lakeside more than he rides for Kings Lynn will cover most of the others. And when the music stops we find that Dave Watt jumps into Peter Kildemands seat for Swindon against Eastbourne tonight while Watt's team mate at Lakeside, Adam Ellis, will be riding for ..err... Eastbourne. Lets hope they all remember which Kevlars to wear. Hope you kept up with all of that. Crazy ! semion
Maybe we should just have two sets of 7 riders, who tour around the Country representing each team. Billy Smart eat ya heart out.

It will be interesting to see if he rides?!

The sooner GB has a squad system of some sort the better. Swedish teams 'sign-up' guest riders for the season so why not something like that? At least you'd always get the same guest - who in fact would be virtually a team member.
semion
Is there a stato who can tell us how many Guests were used in the Elite last season compared to how many have been used so far this season ?

At least you'd always get the same guest - who in fact would be virtually a team member. This happened at Long Eaton, for about 18 months, Mick Poole was a regular guest rider for us, and in the end we ended up signing him before our demise. But with him being a regular guest every 2/3 weeks he did become very much our 8th rider, he always felt to us fans that he was part of our team with him guesting for us so frequently. Lioness
Is there a stato who can tell us how many Guests were used in the Elite last season compared to how many have been used so far this season ? I suspect that SCB might have the figures, certainly for last season
Tsunami
That's the norm these days.!! And unfortunately it is inevitable until we get more Brit riders. Squad systems are not really viable to British Speedway.
jimmy jimmy
Well if Bech is put for the next 6 matches, why not sign Danny King to race instead of him?

SCB
I suspect that SCB might have the figures, certainly for last season Ill work it out later if I remember! Will be more guests this year as in the past the first rider missing had to be r/r but now you can use a guest.
KevtheRev
I see agent Watt was activated at Eastbourne - 4 rides and just 3 points, beating just 1 Eastbourne rider. Edited August 11, 2014 by KevtheRev
marko
Won't be the last time Agent Watt makes an appearance this season, still I expect he was on a fixed priced wage as a guest tonight so no skin off his nose.
Star Fever
And unfortunately it is inevitable until we get more Brit riders. Squad systems are not really viable to British Speedway. Why ever not? No-one is suggesting the squad has to be GB riders, or even that it must be a 'squad' - just riders that are already riding here would do, 'signed' as a regular guest - it would make the fans feel like he's almost part of the team (as The Return said post #7). The point that was being made, I think, is that with more British riders in the league, less meetings would be missed due to committments on the continent - if that makes sense. greyhoundp
Slightly off topic, but a valid reply to a point raised, There are all British riders in the NL, but due to the EL Draft and PL taking precedence we have lots of RR and guests in the NL this season, so just being British wont solve the problem, but having 2 race nights for EL, 2 different race nights for PL might go some way to solving it.
