speedybee
Was in bright sunshine in the afternoon walking around the Macclesfield area and you could see the dark clouds over the city. Then drove up to North Yorkshire in brilliant sunshine all the way. Unlucky Manchester! Edited August 12, 2014 by speedybee
OveFundinFan
As speedybee above, I am in Chester (about 40 mile west of Manchester), weather forecast was rain coming in about 2pm, it was lovely sunshine all day and evening though a bit windy. Was surprised to read BV was cancelled, but weatherwise it can be completely different 4 miles away never mind forty.
mdmc82
Think promotors are going to need to leave rain offs till late and fans be understanding of that if they want fixtures completed
SCB
Think promotors are going to need to leave rain offs till late and fans be understanding of that if they want fixtures completed Why? Promoters should stop squashing fixtures into August and Septemeber. We get this crap every season. Its another of the problems with the sport and another of the reasons the top guys won't ride in the UK.

Probably caused more by Sky shortening the season because of the play offs
SCB
Â Probably caused more by Sky shortening the season because of the play offs Hardly. If you have no fixtures in March, only a handful in April and May. But then have loads in August and September. If you have any rain-offs you're screwed. Spread them out evenly! If you have any rain-offs you're screwed. Spread them out evenly! Â Agreed but the season used to run till the end of October. Now all matches have to be run by the third week in Sept. That's five weeks less. Admittedly I can remember a meeting running on November 1st cos it couldn't be fitted in
kbt
Re fixtures,we recently had a good week of no fixtures because of the World Cup,could some fixtures not have been run without the competing riders? Or is there a rule against it.Just thought it may help the backlog?
Bees_Man
Coventry nearly 4 weeks since the last meeting. Its totally insane.
SCB
Coventry nearly 4 weeks since the last meeting. Its totally insane. Yet the next 2 and a half weeks have 7 meetings then in 2 weeks of September have 5 meetings. Plus there two fixtures to shoe-horn in somewhere. No doubt promoters will be moaning about low crowds. Bee 26
Perhaps they will consider lowering the entrance fee to accommodate the fans being able to attend all these meetings...
john birch
Coventry nearly 4 weeks since the last meeting. Its totally insane. Thinking about the Wolves match do either Karlsson or Thorsell ride in the Allsvenskan league as couldn't this have been brought forward 24 hours? If just one was missing maybe MC could have agreed a facility. Four matches in 4 days shortly - I,m skipping Leicester home and Girlfriend won't do Lakeside away. Once we are out of contention or beaten in the semi's (if we get enough fixtures in to qualify) I'm positively finished with Elite League speedway unless it goes to Monday nights. Uneven fixture lists, doubling up, foreign commitments and no covers, it's a complete joke. You can't tell me once a fortnight with full teams wouldn,t be a damn site more professional. Rearranged dates preset - 24 hrs later until Sweden starts and then blank weeks in the fixtures every fourth week say. Teams to race home + away on bank hols - easter sun instead of mon. 8 teams league cup regionalised to start and then 1 home and away. And don't tell me Thursday's in 2004 didn't work. It was the bloody worst team since 1974 that drove the crowd down!
stevebrum
If Coventry are in a pickle over fitting in home fixtures then they only have themselves to blame. The Wolves match last Friday was known about In March so it was ridiculous to call it off because of missing riders. How many matches have been run with riders missing on both sides?? If we continue to do that then a league would never be completed. I can just imagine the scenario if Wolves couldn't agree to a re-staging date before the Play Offs and Coventry miss out and blame the Wolves management for failing to agree! Â Its easy to solve - stick to the fixtures as planned and work better around your signings in future. At least fans who book there Speedway around the fixture list wont be inconvenienced, that is assuming the Coventry management are bothered about the paying public. speedybee
It's a total joke this year. I missed the home meeting on summer solstice weekend against Poole at Brandon, so have only seen two home meetings in two months, and both against Belle Vue! The weather hasn't helped although been a couple of meeting now that have been called off due to heavy shower & poor forecast & then it's been nice all evening.
