Dave Stummings
No thread yet, can't imagine why. Another slaughter tonight. Is this the worst Rye House team ever? Stumo recons at least a 20 point win for the rebels. Happy days.......... Not!

westhamboy66
Don't think that what happened last night has much to do with tonight Depends which riders turn up Boxall for example looked ok at Ipswich then none from five at Somerset. Those wondering if this is the worst time the Rockets have endured probably wont remember the times after the break up of the 1980 Championship team when it was a real embarrassment following the Rockets to places like Exeter for the ritual slaughter I suppose Allen and Starke will put in far better performances than they ever did as Rockets but given the ease with which we put away Redcar you never know. Whatever happens i hope that the majority of the team are shown the door at the end of the season and that the Promoters decide to concentrate on Rye rather than Kent which has dragged our club to new lows. If not there wont be a club.
Shadders
Somerset will be buzzing after their last visit when they took us apart. See if Kennetts shoulder holds up, he could be the key. The weather won't come to our rescue tonight. Expect an away win, but only by 8-10 points
Ben91
Hope we've got a guest lined up incase Kennett is absent again tonight. Probably be someone like Ritchie Hawkins mind. Â Somerset to take all 4 match points tonight, if Kennett is absent it could be a mauling.

Shadders
Â Rye 44 Somerset 49 Â Closer than people thought! Decent meeting tonight, quite entertaining. I thought the Rockets were desperately unlucky to lose this. Allen getting away with some shocking rolling starts. Much better performance from the Rockets, looking like they had a point to prove. Hopefully we can take something from this and take the points off Newcastle on Wednesday. Edited August 9, 2014 by Shadders

Shadders
Kennet made a quick recovery, did he not fancy Somerset .Injured his shoulder at Ipswich on Thursday. Intense physio on Friday did the job
Rayleigh
But if Kennett had riden at Somerset with bad shoulder it would have weakened the teams performance and not given value for money for the paying Somerset supporters. Â Wether he could have rode or not Kennett is the one Rye rider who deserves NO critisism this season. Â Starting to worry that after a few iffy results Ryes top six chances are wobbly
westhamboy66
Kennet made a quick recovery, did he not fancy Somerset . You don't pull out of a race while in the points for no reason as Edward did at Ipswich on thursday, he was in extreme discomfort in the pits and anyone who has had a trapped nerve could tell you how the pain can come and go. For me he is the one rider who started the season who is above criticism. Not sour grapes as i say the same even if Rye gain advantage but lets get rid of this ridiculous T/R that spoilt rather than made the meeting. Somerset may have clawed their way back from ten points down but the 8-1 they got knocked the stuffing out of Rye. Artificially massaging meetings back to life maybe what the EL need for the telly but it makes a mockery of what is a decent product in the PL A word of encouragement too for Ollie Greenwood who despite only three points looks like he could one day be the real deal, i hope we can hang on to him Would you get rid of your team manager aswell Shadders or do you think he is doing his best with what Mr Silver has given him? Â Is this worse than the Big Ron days of 1991 - 1993. Big Ron's days were nowhere near as bad as the early eighties, don't like the bloke myself but at least Ron gave us the likes of Goodwin, Rasmussen, O'Brien Woffinden Snr and a string of others who entertained.
Shadders
Agree with you about Olly. Looks rather Simon Lambertish around Rye sometimes, but he has the aggression that we've been missing at reserve. Will improve and could be a trump card on larger tracks. Worth looking at for next year. TR rule works both ways. Somerset were fortunate in this case that they caught us napping at the gate. Never felt comfortable, even with a ten point lead, as I mentioned to Cliffboy before heat 8. Edward hasn't let anyone down this season. He was never going to live up to that ridiculous average he was saddled with at the start of the year. Anything around 8.5 is acceptable for a guy racing for only one team while holding down a full time job. Therein lies our problem. The majority of the side are racing exclusively for Rye House, not enough track time. Only Olly, Jason Garrity & Anders are racing elsewhere, in the EL against mostly NL riders and Anders is just feeling his way back from a serious spinal injury racing in the Swedish second division. Racing with a steel rod in your back knowing that another serious crash could potentially shatter your spine can be rather off putting I should think. Bagpuss
Wasn't it Mr Silver who came up with the TR? I'm no fan of it personally BUT it can't be denied that it makes some meetings more interesting.

Broken collarbone ended his stint at Rye House, ironically at my first ever speedway meeting, a double header v Poole/Edinburgh on 8th September 1985 Edited August 10, 2014 by Shadders
Cliffeboy
Just a quick word on the tac in heat 8, at the end of the day I think Somerset would still have won 46-44 without the extra 3 points. I do agree that it is a stupid rule and we should go back to bringing in a tac sub as they continue to do in Sweden.
