Patryk Dudek Tests Positive For Banned Substance

Recommended Posts

WE have the same thing at my works, instant dismisale for drinks abd drugs.

But I think everybody should wait and see what happens before we judge the young lad.

Seems Dudek is quite confident that he will be back racing sooner rather than later.

I spent a short spell working at Curry's a few years ago over Christmas and had the pleasure of serving Darcy Ward. He came in to buy an electric coffee grinder, and only an electric coffee grinder! I had a look out the shop window as he was leaving and his van was surrounded by about 15 young men. 3 Guesses as to what that grinder was for? :D

The found substance from Dudek is very common stimulant. In 2012 it was the most common stimulant to be found in doping tests. Also the same drug is what caused the german biathlonist SachenbauerSteele to fail her test in Sothsi.

Timo Seppälä from Finnish Antidoping says that it's not that powerful, but in LARGE quantities it gives some benefit. Also used with cofein (while drinking coffee) it's a big risk with brains and heart. Also very common to get this substance from legit supplements, as they are manufactured on the same labs and conveyoers as the "illegal" ones. Cant see any reason why a speedway rider would benefit from it, though one Polish article mentions (via google trasnlation) "afterburner"... So maybe he's used it to keep control of his weight? Which seems to be non-excistent anyway,

So basically, Dudek might walk free if he has a good enough story.

Well if you worked in a chemist giving people potentially life saving medicine or in a high end boutique, being drunk could affect someone's health or cost a fortune through mistakes being made.

Or if you're a bus / taxi driver / pilot the consequences don't bear thinking about.

Unless you think it's ok to turn up drunk to work that is ?

So you want to test everyone, everyday, when they turn up for work. It may come as a surprise to you, but 99.99% of people don't need or want their lives supervised to do what's right. Your final line will be treated with the contempt it deserves.. :icon_smile_clown:

you need to realise that when you have a clown of a manager who makes moronic comments on twitter that from time to time it will keep popping back up

Isn't there an energy drink, similar to Red Bull called "Afterburner"? Who knows what goes into some energy drinks.

If it is an energy drink I doubt if Monster or Red Bull will think too kindly of it.

At the end of the day, each and every athlete is responsible for what goes inside their body, and by athlete I don't just mean track and field, so Dudek is responsible for taking whatever he has been alleged to have taken, innocently or not.

It's all very well but if you have a minor illness by the time you research the banned substance list and find something to relieve the symptoms you will be very poorly indeed. Like a lot of these things there is a very large grey area to trap the unwary and the banned substance list is a minefield. Some of the most unlikely medications could see you banned from working, it's not as simple as taking a breathalyser like many companies do now. Unlike most sports Speedway riders don't tend to have medical experts on their team to offer advice either, Speedway medics tend to specialise in injuries.

That's a fair point.

Didn't Rob Woffinden cop a ban once, and it turned out he'd taken nothing more than some LemSip (or some such cold remedy)?

afterburner is pre workout supplement. The whole sports supplement industry is pretty dodgy. Many products have had to be removed from sale as they have been caught lying about the contents. Not to long ago one pre workout supplement was found to contain a synthetic form of meth amphetamines. Edited by sm00th

Also worth adding that the "drug" in question is used under half a dozen different names and is rarely mentioned on the side of the bottle. This from the interview of the earlier mentioned Seppälä.

Seppälä has been doing Finnish Antidoping for decades, and doesnt take things lightly, never seen him smile and he's always on tv when an athlete gives a positive sample. So I find that if and when he says it could have been an accident or contaminated legal supplement, there's a POSSIBILITY that Dudek just had loads of bad luck.
